Train Station Remodel
updated: Sep 28, 2012, 10:29 AM

I've been out of town for a bit so this topic may have been dealt with. We arrived back in Santa Barbara yesterday by train and were surprised to find half of the Station parking lot torn up. What's going on?

Airport expansion...or maybe pavement renovation. It's hard to know.

SBFUNLOVER--

Thanks for the link. Flood control was my first thought but in the back of my mind I seemed to remember this being done a few years ago and the parking lot being closed at that time.

Seriously. Does this mean that a person may not be able to find a parking space at the station when needed? There aren't any alternatives nearby.

We were there yesterday, and I was told it has to do with the Greyhound Bus station, which took over Open Air Bicycles, and the long term parking. There isn't a lot of parking right now, but it was Carmageddon, the train was full, and we did find a place to park.
As an aside, I overheard an older lady at the ticket window asking for a validation for long term parking, so I ran back to the vehicle and got the ticket to have it validated. That evening, the ticket taker charged us $2, and told us the charge is normally $19.50. Quite a savings.
