Naples Tour
updated: Sep 24, 2012, 2:33 PM

By Robert Bernstein

Here are my photos of the tour.

Last weekend the Save Naples Coalition and the Gaviota Coast Conservancy gave a tour of the Naples area of the Gaviota Coast.

The Gaviota Coast is one of the major remaining undeveloped coastal areas in California. And the Naples section of the Gaviota Coast is just a few miles past the end of Goleta.

To help locals appreciate how special this area is, Mike Lunsford gave a tour of the area, starting near the freeway and extending along the beach.

It was a treat to see this area that has remained largely untouched. And it certainly raised awareness of the need to keep this area preserved.

It was also interesting to note the conflicting signs that read "Keep Out", "Stay Out" and "No Trespassing"... along with the signs that correctly state that the public in fact does have permission to enter the area at all times.

And please visit http://www.savenaples.org/ for more information about the effort to save Naples and about future tours.
