September 22, 2012 - Endeavour Flyby

Santa Barbara was pleased with the viewing pleasure of the Endeavour Space Shuttle. Thank you to all the Edhat subscribers who sent in photos of the flying machine, our staff received a ton of cool photos! There has been some confusion over the spelling of Endeavour and according to Wikipedia, the Edhat Staff weren't the only ones confused.

"The orbiter is named after the British HMS Endeavour, the ship which took Captain James Cook on his first voyage of discovery (1768?1771). This is why the name is spelled in the British English manner, rather than the American English ("Endeavor"). This has caused confusion, most notably when NASA themselves misspelled a sign on the launch pad in 2007.

In the news: A gas pipe leaked on the 1400 block of Garden Street, UCSB Freshmen are moving in this weekend, Arroyo Burro Beach has been taken off the Warning List after a re-sampling of water. Read these stories and more, below.
