Source: Santa Barbara District Attorney

Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley announced today that Nicholas Paul Rouhas was convicted of Felony Embezzlement. Rouhas was employed by Bicycle Bob's, a local Santa Barbara bicycle shop. He stole 13 bicycles worth $42,370 from his employer and then sold many of them on eBay.

The investigation, which was conducted by the Santa Barbara Police Department, revealed that Nicholas Paul Rouhas had been ernbezzling merchandise and small amounts of cash over a three- year period. Rouhas pled guilty and was sentenced to 210 days in the Santa Barbara County Jail, placed on probation for three years, and was ordered to pay full restitution. Deputy District Attorney Gary Gemberling prosecuted the case.

District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley commented that "employee theft and embezzlement is a significant problem, not only for our local businesses but ultimately for our entire county. The District Attomey's Office is committed to prosecuting these types of cases, securing convictions, and ensuring that restitution is ordered."
