Hello - I'm curious if anyone in Edland has a good suggestion as to where to
watch (sports bar ??) the upcoming baseball play-offs. I don't have cable and
the mlb website won't carry the post season. Thanks in advance.

Just about any bar downtown has a tv showing sports. Killer B's, Sharkeez, Sandbar. Last year I went to the Press Room, wasn't as crowded and they always had baseball on.

O'Malleys is considered the premier sports bar in town, but like 407P said, just about any bar with TVs will probably be showing the playoffs. I'll be cheering for whoever is playing the Yankees (loyal Bostonian that i am).

The problem with the other big sports bars is that they often have several other programs (NFL predominantly) going and you can't hear the audio. I go to Derf's, because it is seldom crowded, and they always have the audio loud enough to listen to, and let's face it that is half the fun, right? Also, drinks there are generous and not expensive. The food: well, you decide if you go.

Derf's is big on sports! TV in the bar, and a large screen in the indoor dining area. Depending on your location, check out Jimboz, De la Vina & Alamar, across from Mayo's Taqueria and Edomasa. At least you have a ton of food choices (Marty's is up the street, as is Ralph's, Nicky D's pizza place [didn't try it, too expensive for me, as is Marty's] Presto Pasta, El Sitio, etc.). 4 tv's, different games/sports on each, good drinks, it's just a neighborhood place. Better than downtown. I do not own or work at Jimboz. And yes, Our Daily Bread will be opening up across De la Vina from Jimboz, in the old Mimosa site.

P.S. I first read your post as "anyone in ENGLAND has a suggestion" and i thought "Now, why would someone get on Edhat to ask a question to people in England??" :)

Zodos has multi-screen coverage and the atmosphere is good because it is both a sports bar, restaurant, a bowling alley and has a kids center for those who want to watch while their children are probably not as interested in the baseball games.

Cliff Room was good last year--also check the MLB site for a "playoffs only" deal for like $10, except you don't get the video feed just a choice of alternative camera angles that annoyingly don't show the whole field, I did it year before last and it was worth it overall but not as good as the regular TV coverage. PS, Brewhouse sucks for any event because it's TOOO LOUUD!!!

Roundin' Third Sportsbar is in Goleta is a great place to watch sports! They have most sports packages, 11 HD 42" and 52" TV's and speaker boxes available for sound on any of them. Super friendly crowd, super clean bar, huge selection of alcohol at great prices.... Worth the drive!!

Seriously? I thought that was obvious...! Response to 323825P from 322643, ALWAYS drive responsibly, or arrange for a cab, bus ride or a friend. It's worth EVERY penny for a liability, a life, etc. Busses run to and from DT and UCSB and drop off almost everywhere SB and GOLETA. Making arrangements when u drink doesn't take a rocket scientist. Just a little thought will suffice!! Love taking the bus here in town; it's easy, safe, timely, reliable, direct. Roundin' Third is worth the "RIDE"!!
