Only thing I can find is an independent story about terminating a contract at Cachuma back in May. Maybe that caused a lawsuit for the County?

There are a couple articles in the SB News Press about this. It has to do with fraudulent use of his corporate card.

Here is a person who was not the appropriate person for this job to start with. It isn't surprising that he has been fired...KARMA!!

In response to my inquiries I received an email from Jeri Muth, County Human Resources Director: "Brian Roney is no longer employed by the County of Santa Barbara. He resigned from his position effective end of business on August 24. The County did not, and does not plan to, issue a press release."

Hmmm.... Edhat subscriber says "terminated" but wants to know more and County HR Directors says "resigned". Who to believe? With the way these community forums go and the way government, or candidates for government, can spin a tale it's really impossible to believe either one at face value. Sad that cynical is the new norm.

626: Perhaps it's a bit of both? I understand he wanted very much to be appointed parks director full-time, but his performance as temporary director was not good enough so, seeing the handwriting on the wall, he resigned.

I was told that it was he who floated the Beach Parking Fee proposal. VASTLY unpopular every time someone is foolish enough to mention it!

After his central role in closing down the all-volunteer fishing center and daily cleanup program on Goleta Pier I hope Mr. Roney's next position is on Neptune or Uranus. So long, clot.

In this County, you are allowed given the option to resign or be terminated once you are told your services are no longer needed. He wouldn't have quit unless he was told it was that or be fired. This County, and the Parks staff, are WAY better off without his services.
