Spiral Gymnastics Results

Sixteen members of the Spirals Gymnastics Level 7, 8, 9, 10 Girls Team traveled to Orange County Fair & Exposition Center, Costa Mesa on Sunday, February 13, 2005 to compete at the “Surf City Classic 2005” hosted by Scats Gymnastics.

The highlights of the weekend:

Saraina Hedgepeth, Level 8, having her best competition ever at this level, winning two events with great scores: vault with 9.35 points and floor with 9.35 points. She placed 3rd in the All-Around with 36.075 points.

Level 8 Team place 2nd in the team competition with 105.925 points ( Samantha Lampkin, Jackie Hayes, Saraina Hedgepeth, Kaitlin Cortenbach and Whitney Chamlee).

Parisa Rivette, Level 7, had a great routine on beam and placing 2nd with 9.20 points.

The Spirals Girls Team had a very good meet overall, setting lots of personal bests, as well as 6 new qualified gymnasts for the 2005 CA State Championships, including: Level 7: Tylen Thomas with 33.10 points; Level 8: Whitney Chamlee with 32.05 points; Level 9: Kate Cahill with 32.375 points, Valentina Christlieb with 33.90 points, Vanessa Van Dyck with 32.10 points and Shelby MacDonald with 33.475 points.

LEVEL 7 RESULTS:

Tylen Thomas (Ventura), Child 7-11 age group, competed very well for her first competition ever at Level 7 and qualified for the CA State Championships with the All-Around score of 33.10 points (setting 5 personal bests). She got 8.90 on floor, 7.675 on bars, 8.125 points on beam, and 8.40 points on floor.

Sydney Hansen (Ventura), Child 7-11 age group, had a good meet placing 6th on beam with 8.575 points, and having personal best All-Around with 33.125 points. She got 8.65 on vault, 7.55 on bars, and 8.35 points on floor.

Parisa Rivette (Santa Barbara), Junior 12-14 age group, had a great competition placing 2nd on beam with 9.20 points (personal best), and scoring a personal best in the All-Around with 34.60 points. She got 8.70 points on vault, 8.075 points on bars, and 8.625 points on floor.

LEVEL 8 RESULTS:

Saraina Hedgepeth (Oxnard), Junior 12-13 age group, competed very well setting personal bests in all 4 events plus the All-Around. She placed 1st on vault with 9.35 points, first on floor with 9.35 points, and 3rd in the All-Around with 36.075 points. She got 8.575 points on bars, and 8.80 points on beam. This was a fantastic meet for Saraina!

Samantha Lampkin (Santa Barbara), Junior 12-13 age group, had a good meet, placing 4th on vault with 9.00 points (personal best), 6th on floor with 8.875 points, and 6th on bars with 8.625 points. She got 8.45 points on beam, and 34.95 points in the All-Around.

Jackie Hayes (Santa Barbara), Junior 12-13 age group, had a good meet, placing 3rd on floor with 9.075 points. She got 8.50 points on vault (personal best), 8.60 points on bars (personal best), 8.70 points on beam (personal best), and 34.875 points in the All-Around (personal best).

Kaitlin Cortenbach (Santa Barbara), Senior 14-15 age group, had a good meet with two personal best scores. She got 8.60 points on bars (personal best), and 8.40 points on vault (personal best). She received 7.20 points on beam, 8.40 points on floor, and 32.60 points in the All-Around.

Whitney Chamlee (Montecito), Senior 14-15 age group, qualified for the 2005 CA State Championships with an All-Around score of 32.05 points. She got 8.30 points on vault, 6.80 points on bars, 8.25 points on beam, and 8.70 points on floor.

The Spirals Level 8 Team placed 2nd in the team competition with 105.925 points.

LEVEL 9 RESUTS:

Sheena Martinez (Santa Barbara), Junior 12-13 age group, had a good meet with one personal best. She placed 4th on vault with 8.80 points (personal best), and 6th on beam with 8.05 points. She got 7.65 points on bars, 8.70 points on floor, and 33.20 points in the All-Around.

Kailey Hansen (Ventura), Junior age group, had a great meet, with 2 personal bests. She placed 4th on beam with 8.775 points, 5th in the All-Around with 33.675 points ( personal best), 6th on vault with 8.65 points (personal best), and 6th on floor with 8.75 points. She got 7.50 points on bars.

Valentina Christlieb (Ojai), Senior 16+ age group, had a very good meet, qualifying to the 2005 CA State Championships with 33.90 points in the All-Around (personal best). She placed 4th on beam with 9.05 points (personal best), and 6th on vault with 8.80 points (personal best). She got 8.10 points on bars (personal best), and 7.95 points on floor.

Kathleen Cahill (Santa Barbara), Senior 14-15 age group, had a good meet, qualifying for the 2005 CA State Championships with an All-Around score of 32.40 points. She got 8.35 points on vault (personal best), 7.775 points on bars (personal best), 7.60 points on beam, and 8.675 points on floor.

Vanessa Van Dyck (Santa Ynez), Senior 16+ age group, had a good meet, qualifying to the 2005 CA State Championships with 32.10 points. She got 8.20 points on vault (personal best), 7.75 points on bars, 8.10 on beam (personal best), and 8.05 points on floor.

Shelby MacDonald (Santa Barbara), Senior 16+ age group, had great meet, qualifying for the 2005 CA State Championships with 33.475 points and having one personal best score. She got 8.55 points on vault, 7.95 points on bars (personal best), 8.225 points on beam, and 8.75 points on floor.

Chelsea Moreno (Santa Barbara), Senior 14-15 age group had a very good beam routine placing 4th with 8.85 points (personal best). She got 8.60 points on vault, 7.60 points on bars, 8.15 points on floor, and 33.20 points in the All-Around.

LEVEL 10 RESULTS:

Kyra Maragopolous (Ojai), Senior 15-16 age group, had a good meet with one personal best. She got 8.65 points on vault, 7.20 points on bars (personal best), 8.15 points on beam, 7.725 points on floor, and 31.725 points in the All-Around.

Next competition for the Spirals Girls Team will be next weekend, on February 18-20, 2005, “ International Gymnastics Invitational " in Henderson, Nevada, hosted by The Academy of Gymnastics and Dance.
