November 15, 2009 - The Whole Story

If you judge things by the activity on the Edhat website, the biggest event in Santa Barbara this week was that Craig Smith got into a spat with a woman who was talking on her cell phone at a local coffee shop.

There was also a great deal of interest in a women bouncing down State Street on some new-fangled shoes, a visit to Santa Barbara involving roller skating and horseback riding by the Kardashian sisters, a spat between local tattoo parlors, and a local activist walking on the Cold Spring Bridge.

Oh yeah, there were also drug busts, fatal traffic accidents, and graffiti.

Today, we bring back the Sunday Edhat. The Weekend Edhat only lasted a week. But, don't loosen the top button on your Sunday best. There will probably be more changes in the compilation and presentation of columns and non-news content on the Edhat site before we get it right. Change is good. Remember?

Today on Edhat, we tell you the results of our grocery store price check. It's our first check since Whole Foods moved in. Also, we have columns from Nicole and Silvia. Nicole tells us about a few of her favorite things. Silvia wonders why we need so many specialists.

Also, Leah cooks up pumpkin bread and mousse. We have travel pictures from New Mexico. And, we have highlights of travel near and far - from Madrid and the Carpinteria Salt Marsh.

---- Edhat Stuff ----------------------------------

Fluffy (CAT OF THE WEEK) - Like most girls my favorite past-time is shopping. I love to shop for gifts for my human. I bring her a gift almost everyday!

Willy (DOG OF THE WEEK) - Here is Willy, a 2 year old Papillion. Willy is a certified Therapy Dog and he and his human, Sue Kuizenga visit patients at Cottage Hospital weekly

Unbridled Amounts Of Glee (NEWS FROM NICOLE) - Now there are lots of things that make me happy, simple and complicated. I like hedgehogs. They're cute. I like sushi. I like being able to put on a pair of jeans that fit.

Specialists vs. Generalists (NEWS FROM SILVIA URIBE) - When my parents were growing up, they could visit the doctor, and that doctor was able to determine what their health issue was, its probable origin, and how to cure them.

The Whole Story (TIDBIT) - Ever since Whole Foods opened their doors to give foodies and friends a free range to their organic produce and air chilled chicken, a fierce no rBSTs-barred brawl has erupted in Aisle 6 of the upscale grocery market.

---- Local News ------------------------------------

Chocolate mousse and pumpkin bread are on the menu, for breakfast (OK, maybe the mousse can wait for dessert), in the Edhat cooking column.
