November 1, 2009 - Day of the Ed

Well that supernormal grip that Halloween casts upon our little blue town has finally been released. There's nothing left to do but post some more pictures and wait for the Isla Vista arrest count from the Sheriff's Department.

Later in the week we'll be done with another gripping issue, the election. This year political activity reached new heights, far exceeding any Measure B limits. It's been a million dollar ride through a sea of candidates financed by a far-reaching cast of supporters. It's saturated our lawns with signs, filled our mailboxes with flyers, and overloaded our bed-tax sensibilities with bedfellows never seen before.

Yes, Tuesday it will be over. Make sure to send in your ballots, if you haven't done so already.

On Edhat this Sunday we have a great history lesson from Neal Graffy. The Cat of the Week is a cutie who is available for adoption. The Dog of the Week likes sitting in trucks.

Silvia Uribe has a column today about immigration. Leah shows us some more great photos from her trip around the west, and John McCafferty take us to France. Our favorite Mike -- Mike Shinn - begins a column about fatherhood, and Roger tells a gruesome Halloween tale he heard on the scanner.

The contest this week is a Where Is It. If you identify the location of the picture, you could win a t-shirt.

Also, don't forget that Daylight Savings Time started today. It's OK to fall back to bed - it's actually earlier than you think.

---- Edhat Stuff ----------------------------------

Where Is It (CONTEST) - Today's contest is a Where Is It. Tell us where the picture was taken and you could win a nice t-shirt.

Luna (DOG OF THE WEEK) - Here are photos of Luna who is to us the sweetest black Lab in the world.

Halloween Pics (TIDBIT) - We have a whole week of Halloween pictures for you to see - yard pictures, costumes, and more. There is also a photo gallery from Isla Vista. Check 'em out and send us more!

Immigration Battle (NEWS FROM SILVIA URIBE) - Words such as diversity, discrimination, privilege, and opportunity, seem to have a different meaning for each individual.

Dorothy (CAT OF THE WEEK) - Dorothy, a black and white short-hair, had a happy home, but her owner fell on hard times and had to relinquish her.

Just A Photo (HISTORY) - The house is large with a good size front yard and close inspection reveals a carriage entrance and possible barn in the rear. But with that much room, where are the people?
