This is the parking lot of Timbers Restaurant. It was built using the timbers from the Goleta oil field pier
that was bombed by the Japanese during WWII.

School Tower -
This tower is on what must be one of the most beautiful Junior High schools in the country, Santa Barbara Junior High, home of the amazing Marjorie Luke Theater.

Street Clock -
This cool clock is a four-sided, cast iron Ansonia street clock that was originally manufactured in 1914,
and placed here around 1985. It is the only such clock on public display.

Grafitti-Ridden Succulent -
This hard-to-find March Edness location is front row center on the tourist map. In fact, people from the
Czech Republic have been there. Edhat documented all the carvings on the succulents at this popular
spot.

Old Fort on a Hill -
This structure that looks like an old fort is clearly visible from a road that leads up to the hills. It used to
be a treehouse, but the tree died, so it was resupported.

This barn is found in Anisq'oyo Park in the heart of Isla Vista.

This wagon is located on Cathedral Oaks Road between 154 and Turnpike Road.

Campbell Cross -
This cross marks the former grave of Colonel Colin Campbell, a British military officer and
millionaire. His body was moved to a location in Chicago, where the prominent family of his wife was
from. The dance floor of his local home was moved to Oak Park.

Community Fountain -
Local sculptor Andy Johnson created this fountain. The idea came to him in a dream after seeing a man
drinking from a hose. Andy crawled into an old, crumbling wine cellar in a hillside and chipped out the
tiles from it to use in this fountain.

Montecito Entryway -
These cool structures can be found at the entryway of a Montecito office building. They were designed by
local architect Sherrill Broudy. The building used to be the storefront for Forms and Surfaces.

Downtown Skylight -
Construction on this skylight began in 1926 and it was rehabilitated in 2003. It is 44 feet in diameter and
is located in the same building as a previous Edhat WWII.

Our Lady of Guadalupe is depicted here on the side of a building located on a street with many religious
buildings.

Altar -
The shrine shown here can be found at the former site an institution that was in Santa Barbara from 1900
to 1987. A major construction project is scheduled to begin shortly on these grounds.

Billionaire's Gate -
A billionaire has spent the last many years building his 18,000 square foot dream home on the bluffs
above a local beach. The only thing between the monster-sized house and the ocean is a bike path and a
40-foot drop. The picture shown here is of the front gate of the property.

Park Shed -
The County of Santa Barbara has a Coke and a smile in one of their local parks. We wouldn't have guessed
that there was such a big demand for soft drinks in this off-the-beaten path location.

Office Building Quote -
Yesterday on Edhat we commented on how cool it would be to have a geographical feature, even one as
mundane as a sediment basin named after you. Wouldn't it be really cool to have one of your quotes
chiseled in stone above the doorway of a public building? Well, Ann Sullivan has that privilege. Her quote,
"Law is the voice of the people. Justice makes it heard", is chiseled front and center on a building on Santa
Barbara Street.

Building Ornamentation -
This building is one of the most well known buildings in town because of its grand old style and ornate
decorations. We all know it's there, but the grandness of the structure must be all we can take in,
because the details go unnoticed.

There are 37 steps that lead to this building. What goes on in that building is top-secret. Only a few
know, and those who do are sworn to secrecy.

landmark named after you? Well, Kim knows how it feels. Whoever Kim is. This mural is on a bridge over
a sediment basin named after Kim.

Memorial Park -
This memorial, together with a flag, was placed in a location close to a beach in 1918. In 1969 the flag
was moved to its current location. The monument was not moved to be together with the flag until 1998.
When they were reunited the town had a celebration.

While enjoying the beauty of this park it is easy to overlook a cool compass on the floor of the gazebo
by the pond.

parking lot with a wood fence.

Sears Walkway -
In recent years there have been many changes in the local retail scene, but nowhere have the changes
been more evident than at the Sears Shopping Center on La Cumbre Road. This picture was taken in the
front entrance to Sears on the top level by the auto repair center.

Lotusland Wall -
There are not many places in town where you can find a long pink wall. In fact, the only place known to
the dedicated staff of edhat.com is on Cold Springs Road where it intersects Sycamore Canyon Road (Hwy
192). The wall surrounds Lotusland, a 37-acre botanic garden built on the former estate of opera singer
and socialite Ganna Walska.

Bath & Haley Laundromat -
This medallion is above the entry door of the laundromat on the corner of Haley and Bath. There are two
medallions on the facade of the building, and another two on a low wall of a house a few doors away.

Chase Palm Park Plaque -
There is a plaque at Chase Palm Park commemorating Harold and Pearl Chase, a brother and sister that made many contributions to the beauty of the city.

Garden Street Under-Crossing -
The picture of the cement design shown is a side shot of the freeway from underneath the Garden Street
under-crossing. It's a little tricky because the sides of both sides of the freeway appear in the picture.

This picture was taken from Modoc, where the La Cumbre Road over-crossing ahead looks big and
foreboding - more than just a road that leads to Hope Ranch.

Dos Pueblos Pool -
The blue and gold tiles are part of the new Dos Pueblos High School pool. They make up the outside
shower. The pool officially opened on July 20, 2007. Dr. Virgil Elings, who donated an ocean of money for
the pool, swam the ceremonial first lap that day.

San Marcos Gym -
The blue and red doors open up to the newly renovated San Marcos High gym. The project cost $7.5
million. Measure V funding helped pay for this. It has a new floor, new bleachers, and a bunch of other
things. The gym was officially open on August 8, 2007.

Transfer Station -
At the County Transfer Station (dump) off of Calle Real there is big white sign that spells out these hold-
your-nose no-nos in big, black, capital letters. Up until 1966 the Calle Real facility was a landfill in its
own right. Today the daily trash is put onto big trucks and driven 24 miles up 101N to the County-owned
Tajiguas landfill.

Bacara Resort Entrance -
The sign is located at the entry road to the Bacara Resort. We're pretty sure the emergency in question
would be expected to come from the oil and gas plant next door, rather than the four-star spa hotel. But
you never know.

Los Olivos Gargoyle -
If you think that the green monster shown here a gargoyle, then Wikipedia would classify you as a layman. True gargoyles, it turns out, must have water spouting from their mouths. This green thing is more properly labeled as a chimera or a grotesque figure. It can be found within spitting distance of the Mission.

Yoga Center Windows -
Each of the three neo-classical windows shown in this March Edness picture has twenty-two panes. All
sixty-six panes can be found on the front of a former church that is now home to the Santa Barbara Yoga
Center. The building is on Micheltorena Street, just east of State Street.

La Arcada Lions -
These big cats, their tails, and the castle they're guarding are on an arch above the entry to La Arcada, the
little shopping haven in the middle of the block behind the corner of Figueroa and State Streets. This
design was taken from original artwork that appeared on a building at this location in 1927.

City Hall Gates -
These gates are on Anacapa Street in front of City Hall. The gates used to be made of wood and painted
blue, but in the early 1990s the wooden gates needed to be replaced. The City hired architectural
designer and artist Henry Lenny to design the gates.

Cattleman's Horse -
This horse is located in front of the Sandman Inn at 3714 State Street. It was created at the Santa Barbara
School of Fine Arts in the late 1960s.

Presidio Cart -
This is a picture of an ox cart, known as a 'carreta', located at the Santa Barbara Presidio. Though the
Presidio was founded in 1782 this cart is not original. It is a replica from that period that was made in
Mexico.
