June 11, 2007 - Best Media
For Friday's Best of Santa Barbara Survey (BSBS), we asked subscribers to vote for their favorite media outlets in town
- best TV news, best radio station, and best print media.
We did the exact same survey in April 2006, before the News-Press Mess started.
It was interesting to compare the results.
The media medium that has changed the least in the last year appears to be television. Channel 3 still rules the dial, second to none.
Actually none IS second. See the graph below to figure out what we're talkin' about. In the radio world, KEYT is the radio star.
KJEE seems to have lost some ground, while KCSB and KCLU have gained some.
Before we tell you how far the News-Press has fallen, it's worth noting that even BEFORE the mass firings, the paper was not the toast of the town.
One year ago only 20% of the people voted it as their favorite.
In fact, in 2006, Jerry Robert's paper received less than half the votes than that of the Independent.
Of course this year there are fewer News-Press fans. Only 3% of all votes went their way.
The votes of abandonment were evenly divided between the Independent and the Daily Sound.
Edhat is NOT a print media. We received a lot of nice atta boys this year, but the same small percentage of votes.
The graphs below shows all the survey results. The Edhat dog, very excited from her THIRD PLACE FINISH in the State Street Dog Mile, was asked to choose
a t-shirt winner from the list of those who voted. She decided to pick the third person on that list. KleinesHaeschen wins the t-shirt!
