March 13, 2007 - War and Peace
We've reported on Edhat before that Skofield Park is one of the nicest getaways in town. A block away from the Rattlesnake Canyon trailhead, you can find acres of peace and quiet. Near the entrance to the park there is a big green converted-barn-house where you can find even more peace - it's the word - written on its side in big white letters.
The dedicated staff of edhat.com is guessing that only a few people took our prior recommendations to heart and went to visit the park.
Since the letters are so big, and the house is so green, you can't miss the attraction. So, we're figuring that any Edhat subscriber who didn't know the location of the Where Is It picture probably hasn't been there lately. But don't be sad. You can turn that frown upside down and check out the park today!
Only 22 subscribers were able to locate Peace in Santa Barbara. Identifying the picture correctly was worth 3 points. LinnyG, currently second on the March Ed-ness leader board, is going strong. Not only did she know where the old barn was located, but she also identified the names of the owners (yesterday she had the name of the artist of the kinetic sculpture as well).
The other picture shown yesterday was a real doozey. To be honest, before a subscriber wrote in suggesting this picture, we didn't even know that there was a Goleta Cemetery! It's located off of Hollister between Modoc and Turnpike, behind the old baseball field that used to have a sign touting some championship in the 70's. Was it Little League?
We certainly didn't know that the Goleta Cemetery had a war memorial - until we took a picture of it, that is.
And the picture of the top of the memorial is what we showed for yesterday's guessing. Only 5 subscribers identified this picture. Correct guesses were worth 5 points.
Pazzo, Tommy Noodleman, BrownSquared and Wahine were the only four contestants to get both pictures yesterday. A daily t-shirt is awarded to Wahine. T-shirts are available for pickup at Highlight Salon, located at the corner of Alamar and De La Vina.
Here are the up-to-date March Ed-Ness Standings.
More March Edness! ... Here are two more pictures for you to guess at.
