Hummingbirds are some of the most beautiful and unusual of birds, and are the
second largest family of birds in the New World. They are found only in the
Americas, most abundantly in the tropics where Costa Rica has over fifty
species. Ralph Paonessa (RPPhoto.com) has photographed them, including
specialized high speed photography to illustrate these tiny birds in flight.
The author's photos can be found in magazines WildBird, Birder's World,
Birdwatcher's Digest, Nature and Wildlife, Martha Stewart Living, and Outdoor
Traveler.
Contact person is Susan Vaughn at (805) 403-7046.
