Trouble registering for SBCC Adult Ed
updated: Dec 10, 2009, 8:28 AM
How's it going for others on the registration for City College Adult Ed? Today seems another snafu. I have been trying since 8 to register for a class (that, actually I have failed to get in for two years) ... and since a little after 8 am can not get to the checkout cart.
I get the message: A problem occurred while utilizing Santa Barbara City College - Continuing Education 's website.
Updating your browsers settings may eliminate the problem. Please click here and try again.
If this problem persists, please contact us for assistance.
Calling gets only busy signals.
This is disgraceful, imho!

It was not good yesterday morning - I wonder why they gave such special treatment to ceramics, a whole day, which has relatively few classes! - but this morning it went smoothly and quickly. Thanks!

I just registered and now I'm going back to sleep. Fairly smooth.

I just registered for a popular cooking class. It took all of 11 minutes (part of that time was a result of my own stupidity). It works.

Because ceramics has about 600 people madly trying to register at the same time because it has relatively few classes. Bogs everything down.

Thursday it took me 1hr15min to register 3 classe. Last time it took 3hr30min. We're moving in the right direction, folks. Today was a problem. Haven't gotten through yet.
If you get that browser message, jut hit your back arrow (the left one on the top and try again. Sometimes you have to try three or four times! Good luck today.

So far, so good. One art class was already full and with a waiting list, but I signed up for two others with no difficulty.

Wednesday morning I signed in early and at 7:59am the enameling class was already full - even though registration was not supposed to start until 8am. I went to the Adult Ed office at Schott Center to find out why registration was allowed before 8am and they had no explanation or comment! The employees there were actually trying to ignore me as I stood there in front of their cash register. It took a few minutes before they would even ask me if i needed help!!!

I didn't have any problem registering for classes yesterday and today (it took a matter of minutes each time)- I just think it's a hassle to have to register for some classes on one day and then go back the next to register for others.
a footnote- I think the website could be a lot easier to navigate. The "Sign In" for previous users should be the first thing you see instead of having to scroll through all the instructions. Then the "Courses" button on the next screen immediatly after logging in instead of seaching for it on the side bar.

I stayed home from work on Thursday morning to register for a watercolor class only to get hung up. Ended up going to work and trying again about 9:30---still no luck. Tried again at 12:30 and finally got in. Not a great experience.
