Wing Reflections

We flew to Oceano today to visit my uncle in Avila Beach, and I've been reflecting on the day. Looking at the few pix we snapped, it was fun to see our beautiful part of the world shimmering on the wings almost like reflections on a rippled pond.

I first noticed it on this snap toward SB as we were climbing toward the hills. Something I like about looking at pix is what we missed in the moment. Of course, pointing the camera in the approximate direction and holding the shutter a few seconds (to get one usable pic from a shotgun burst) it's easy to miss a lot in the moment. It's somewhat like what we see when glancing at something for a moment, which is what most of us do all the time.
Seems to me that after noticing something from a pic, two things happen. First, I get an idea of why that particular scene motivated me to snap a pic. Second, the things I notice sometimes help me to be more aware in present moments - and thus when I'm snapping away next time.

Northeast of Santa Ynez Airport is what looks like a full-size horse track I'd not noticed before. It seems to have barns, little pens, and corrals (each with a shade tree) the same size (perhaps to treat every pony equally?). I wonder, do some races also use the pond inside the track?

Returning home just after sunset the glow beneath our wing added to the bloom of sunset. We were glad to be ahead of the fog you can see rolling in over Lompoc, and to have EdHat for sharing our reflections.
