Roger the Scanner Guy - 11/28/2009

Scanner report
updated: Nov 27, 2009, 12:50 PM

by Roger the Scanner Guy

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving, I sure did my neighbor who never gets a break nor much respect the lovely Laura Miller, stayed up all night to make her dinner than made mine and a couple others on Thanksgiving, because I don't have an oven. What a great lady works full time, and goes to school full time I think Howard, her husband is her house husband I ate so much I'm still tired. I just shoveled it all in I never thought I was going to get full. Thank you, Laura. Is my grammar better? Probably not because I like looking at the front of the book teaching grammar (grade 4) more than the inside. O.K., are you ready, here goes.

The first thing I heard Wednesday night was the tale end of a call where they the city police had a code 33, that is when there are no other transmissions on the scanner except for one, which is usually an emergency or an officer’s safety is at stake. It could be anything a fight, a theft, robbery, burglary, or a standoff, just to name a couple it could even be a traffic stop. A juvenile was signed into Noah’s Anchorage and a police officer was dispatched to be there. Maybe to make sure things went smoothly. I heard some dialog about a request for large handcuffs, and then another officer replied that he was at the station picking up slip ties those are like those ties that used to be used on lawn bags when we were kids, those of us that grew up in the 60's only these are much stronger I think I might have had the pleasure to be hog-tied once in my drinking days, I wasn't able to enjoy it though and don't envy the turkey or human turkeys that got to wear them on Thanksgiving Eve.

There was a smoke investigation inside a home in the 1300 block of East Cota Engines 1,2,3, and truck 712 responded to "Smoke coming out of the stove" I don't think they like saying "Food on the stove." Anymore anyway Engine 2 cancelled every over except for the truck for assistance. On Cliff Drive there was a medical emergency for an unconscious female, there was a gang fight on Burnt Mesa at Rucker in Santa Maria, a reckless driving and most likely drunk driving LOSER on APS near Garcia road going 2 mph to a liquor store, I'm not going to say his name here but he made on of the reports in here a couple months back for crashing on his unlicensed scooter somewhere in Mission Canyon.

One Lucky fella up there in Guadalupe got into a fight with six females I'll bet that lucky guy got one HELL of a spanking I bet his butt is stinging today. :) I heard city police say that they were "Removing gangmembers from Sharkeys" I don't know why? Moneys green just like boogers. There was a difficulty breathing and chest pain in the 1000 block of East Canon Perdido, and a intruder in a woman’s apartment in the 600 block of West Canon Perdido, I do not think the woman was harmed as police responded very quickly the man was last seen going South on San Pasqual wearing a green hoodie. There was also a report of extensive GRAFFITI on the West Side, Bonnet Park, San Andreas Creek, A walking bridge all tagged very recent with black paint. That was pretty much it for Thanksgiving Eve.

Of course I woke up on one my Midnight in the Bathroom, breaks turned on the old Pro-135 and heard the CHP requesting city police code 3 for back up on a drunk/reckless driver going through Mission Canyon and finally crashing on Mountain Drive, there was also a man dressed in dark clothing near the Caltrans construction area at Highway 101 and Milpas farting around over the scanner they said he had almost been hit twice police found him near the Roundabout. Harbor Patrol was on a code 40 drunk at that time at Bath and Cabrillo, there was a medical emergency in the 2100 block of Santa Barbara, Street for someone with left arm pain. I think sleeping for me was out after that there was a rollover accident on 246 in Buellton near Palmer the vehicle was reported to be in some bushes and could not be seen from the road.

I don't know where exactly this was but at 6:55 a.m. Somewhere in the County some Bozo who didn't get his way was threatening to kill someone, there was a dispatcher with an open line in the County and she heard a woman say "If you don't start speaking correctly your going back to the hospital." Will guess what? I bet he went back to the hospital anyway after Sheriffs Dispatch heard that call. Just what a cop wants to hear on Thanksgiving Be On the Lookout First fella was missing from the Oxnard Homeless Shelter, wasn't on his medication, and "could be violent." The other guys was from Arroyo Grande, was a Be On the Lookout for Officer Safety he was carrying several rifles in his White Honda, the name of the model wasn't right anyway imagine if these two had slammed into each other like two storm clouds in the heart of Santa Barbara, wouldn't that be something? Will don't worry I don't think it happened besides we have more dangerous people here already. Has anyone looked at the Megan’s Law website? Freaked me out the first time I ever saw it.

Around 8:15 a.m. There was a smoke alarm going off in the 400 block of Via Lucero, engine 4 fire personal got there and could not locate the residential manager who was "Out of Town" for Thanksgiving. But they were able to raise him on a cell phone after about an hour and that's when they were able to get into the apartment which was vacant and find out there was no problem. There was a fall victim with a head injury in front of Vons in La Cumbre Plaza. Then I heard really too numerous to count names being run for Wants and Warrants, and most of them were on probation for one thing or another or had suspended licenses I heard several in the background as the police were running their names most sounded drunk. Occasionally I would hear a burglary had been committed somewhere in town, there were many Be On the Lookouts for drunk drivers, reckless drivers. I heard a couple cars getting towed, in the 1300 block of San Pasquel someone reported someone’s van as being suspicious because it was filled with pillows, there was a loud party on San Pasqual that later on turned into a fiasco as some idoit started kicking the person who called in a complaint car. There was a report of a missing 2 year old on East Ortega didn't catch the address police got the story it sounded as if the Mother might have irresponsibly left the child in one of her friends cars or something the dispatcher sounded angry. I don't know because I wasn't there but listening to it over the scanner that's the way it sounded. There were a couple more reported drunk drivers then a domestic where the fella took a gal home then decided he didn't want her there so he called the police to get rid of her who was she Lorrena Bobbitt?

In the 3700 block of San Remo in a 45 minute time span people must have left around 9 P.M. When they got back they discovered that their apartment had been broken into. That's what we really have to watch for going out of town you house getting burglarized or your car getting ripped off. Call the post office have them hold your mail, stop delivery of your paper, if you notice suspicious people hanging out or someone you don't know sitting in a car for an extended period of time call the police they will be more than happy to come out and check them out for you. It's better to be safe than sorry, well have a great weekend see ya Monday, Roger
