Whole Foods Donates $4,079
updated: Nov 06, 2009, 1:41 PM

Source: Whole Foods

Santa Barbara, CA, November 6, 2009- Whole Foods Market is thrilled¬-naturally-to announce the results of our 5% Giving Day event held October 14, 2009. Team members and the Santa Barbara community came together raising over $4,000 for the PARC Foundation of Santa Barbara. As beneficiary of our 5% Giving Day, the PARC Foundation which supports the acquisition and enhancement of open space, parks and recreational opportunity in the Santa Barbara area received five-percent of our net sales for the day totaling $4,079.

Whole Foods Market is dedicated to helping non-profit organizations (501c3) in our local community that have grand intentions along with small budgets. Our giving program supports volunteer-staffed organizations that address community issues such as hunger, poverty, organic & sustainable agriculture, animal welfare issues, environmental concerns and health & human services, among others. Political organizations are not eligible for donations.

5% Day is one way that Whole Foods Market is able to provide financial support to such organizations. Two times during the year, we donate 5% of one day’s net store sales to a selected non-profit organization. We work closely with the benefiting organization to promote the event—using their promotional resources as well as our own; for example, newsletters, public service campaigns, direct mailings, etc., to make the day as successful as possible.
