Home Sweet Home
updated: Nov 05, 2009, 7:51 PM

by John Wiley

As we slid across the top of especially thick LA smog this evening, it was a great relief to see our sweet home town appear beyond our hills recently scarred by fire. We stopped briefly in Santa Ynez, and dipping into that valley snapped a view of home that got us a bit misty. Then as we unpacked at SBA from our 5-week Big Adventure flying to Maine, Florida and now home, the skies above Goleta lit up with a great show. With trusty Flash tidied up and tied down for the night, another Cessna was flying practice circles around the airport reminding us of all the colorful places we've just flown. Still, as Dorothy says after returning from Oz, "There's no place like home!"
