Burglary at local gun shop

SANTA BARBARA, CA – 3/4/2009 – On 03/02/09, at approximately 4:57 a.m, officers responded to a call at 2009 State Street, Far West Gun and Supply, on a call of a possible burglary in progress. The call initially came in through a witness and shortly afterwards the police department received an alarm call at the location. Upon arrival officers found the front glass door to the business smashed and the security bars to the door cut. The owner of the business was contacted and responded. An inventory check was conducted and at the time of this press release, approximately 30 handguns are missing. Detectives have been assigned to the case and the investigation is continuing.
UPDATE 03/04/09
Upon further inventory by Far West Gun and Supply, a total of 23 handguns were taken. The calibers range from .32 to .45. The Santa Barbara Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) are actively working the case and are asking for the public’s help. ATF is offering a $5000 reward to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspects in this case. Attached to this press release are still images of surveillance video capturing two subjects inside the gun store.
