Into The Hills
By John Wiley
We joined those on a short Scenic Sunday drive up 154 this afternoon. We turned off at Stagecoach and stopped for a chat and photo with a bonfire group at Cold Spring Tavern to offer wikipedia, then turned back toward town. A few leisurely scenic minutes after taking the Painted Cave exit, we had a quiet visit with the rock art and enjoyed the sense of time we last felt several years ago there. To preserve the art I used a long exposure (flash can harm the art). Further up I was surprised how the PC community sign differs from my memory of it, so here's a snap of that too. Laurel Canyon Ranch was our next point of interest, now that I've read some herstory of it online. Then a taste of the panoramic views from Camino Cielo.
Last is one showing how lush everything looks up there now, as a promise of Spring. Amazing how much we could take in at a slow pace, letting people pass and stopping to gawk and take photos. Ninety minutes from town and back. It was all the more magical having flown over it so many times in the last three years. I'll be putting different and/or larger versions on my Photo Page (and some might show up on wikipedia).
