Flying up the Coast with John Wiley
By David Powdrell
Having seen the incredible aerial photographs that John Wiley has shared at EdHat, I contacted him and asked if he’d take me up so I could shoot photographs of the major surfing spots of Santa Barbara. He generously agreed to let me jump in the plane for a nominal cost and we scoured the coast for about 2 hours. The surf was embarrassingly small but I was able to snap surf locations from Carpinteria to Jalama. We also checked out the Tea Fire area (painfully sad), spun around to Santa Ynez, Buellton and Solvang before heading home. It was an incredible adventure. John’s always looking for passengers if you’re interested in joining him.
Attached are a few photos I took today. I’ll be adding more photos at www.powdrell.smugmug.com later this week.
