Ed Shutters To Think - Ed Shutters To Think: In some places in the world, they put shutters on the windows to control light, and provide privacy and protection. Storm shutters make sure the wind doesn’t blow the windows in, or break them by crashing something against it. Of course, in Santa Barbara we know nothing about this. 2889 2

Arrow Minded - Arrow Minded: We noticed the arrow as we were walking around looking for things to photograph. On a whim, we ventured inside the Courthouse to ask at the visitor's desk if anyone knew anything about it. 3228 3

Bench Press - Bench Press: So, how do we judge yesterday's picture? May we approach the bench? The rock wall surrounding the bench was a rocksolid clue that the bench in question was somewhere around the Mission, either on the East Side or on the Riviera. 2815 add

Rated PG For Confusion - Rated PG For Confusion: G for P ... P for down. Is that like the kids joke where you ask your friend to spell pig backwards and then say, funny? Or, maybe it is some cryptic message that foretold the election results on Tuesday, some play on G.O.P., the party that went down in Tuesdays election. 3098 3

Saint Sighting - Saint Sighting: Yesterdays Wednesday Where Is It sure was a tough one to find. It was a picture of a saint sitting in the bushes with birds, holding up eight fingers like some sort of 13th century version of a Gang sign. 2790 add

Green Building - Green Building: The structure itself does not have an address. It is located on APS just before the roundabout as you head down the hill from the Riviera. The structure is on the right hand side of the road where APS crosses Sycamore Creek, and it looks over the creek like a loyal friend. On the structure and in the surrounding area, there is no indication of who owns it or why it's there. 2423 3

Ed Takes A Lickin' - Ed Takes A Lickin': Green Stamps were around before Greenspan and before green homes. They were around before Green Acres and the Green Berets. But today, even though the Santa Cruz Market in Old Town Goleta still has a cool S and H Green Stamps sign on the top of their building, the stamps have stopped. 5085 3

Danger a'Ed - Danger a'Ed: Yesterdays Wednesday Where Is It was a picture of a dirty sign, not dirty as in sectional content, but dirty as in, it has a big smudge of ketchup or blood or something on it. So, what dangerous sport in town would warrant such a sign? We left that up to our dedicated subscribers to figure out. 3094 add

Life is Like A Box Of Chocolate Milk - Life is Like A Box Of Chocolate Milk: Yesterdays picture was of a box of Nesquik sitting on top of a dirty car. We had no illusions of importance. There was no hope that George Washington drank cocoa here, or that this was the famous Oprah car, she recently drove crosscountry. Nope, we were pretty darn sure that this was just a car, and for some reason someone had put an extra large box of trash on top of it and left it there. 2858 1

Blue Light Special - Blue Light Special: There are two places in town where the traffic light mountings, the poles and the arm that hangs over the street, are blue. At one location, the blue poles are decorated with red hash marks. At the other location, the poles are decorated with yellow hash marks. Figure out what’s going on? If you cannot, maybe you should go back to school. High Schools, that is. 2476 1

City College Lights - City College Lights: Every once in a while our Wednesday Where Is It instincts come up a bit short. Yesterday was such a day. In case you have never noticed, on the western side of the grandstands at the Santa Barbara City College stadium, track, football, soccer, whatever, there is a yellow spherical light on a pole. The sphere is cracked. Yesterdays WWII was a picture of this light. 2343 add

Fast Cars & Fine Art - Fast Cars & Fine Art: There is a machine shop on the corner of Nopal and Reddick that specializes in pipe bending. The shop is a family owned business that has been around since 1965. So what, you ask? Well truth be told, there’s a lot of cool stuff going on there. 2725 add

Windows of Mystery - Windows of Mystery: The owners of the Victoria Theater are now in the process of making the outside of the building look as nice as the inside. For one thing they are painting with the same colors as the building had when it was built in 1921 as a First Baptist Church. 3147 add

Sun In Your Eyes - Sun In Your Eyes: The mural shows the bottom half of a sun with rays emitting from it in all directions. Below the sun is a field of flowers, poppies we think. The reason that only half the sun is showing is because the roofline cuts off the other half. From our picture, you can see the blue sky contrasts nicely with the subtle colors of the mural. 4503 add

Moor Than Just An Arch - Moor Than Just An Arch: The building on the east 300 block of State Street was shook out of commission in the quake like others, but it was not revived in Spanish Revival at all. Instead, it was built in the Moorish style. That building, once called the Seaside Oil Company Building and the Alhambra Building, and now called the Andalucia Building, was the location of the picture in yesterdays Wednesday Where Is It. 4132 add

That Old Rincon Bell - That Old Rincon Bell: Our bell stumped the band and the entire dedicated subscribership of edhat.com. Ed's a Street Talker - Ed's a Street Talker: In 2001, the residents of the 14 houses on Dixon Street, a short dead-end street off of Grove Lane, in what some people call San Roque, decided that the name of their street was not to their liking and was possibly lowering their property values. The dedicated staff of edhat.com is not quite sure how they reached this conclusion. The name Dixon reminds us of Room 222, pencils, and battle lines in the Civil War. 4387 1

Tots - Tots: The Tots Sign is just a decoration on the outside of the playground fence. FYI, Ore Ida Tater Tots were invented in 1953. 2979 add
