Every life matters, including the spider.

I would have done the same thing. Especially for a beautiful creature like a dragonfly! Every life matters. Yes, tis nature, but, we are human after all...just as curious as the cat next door!

There are four "tools" that really help, when you rescue any insect from a web: a small pair of sharp scissors, two finely pointed needles, and a magnifying glass. Be careful not to damage the wings any more than they have already been damaged in the struggle to survive the web.

The spider won't starve. They can go for days without a meal.

Good for the dragon fly, bad for the spider. It's not cruel, it's nature. But I might've done the same thing.

Aha. I am not the only one disentangling butterflies from orb weaver's webs! (I did see a small dragonfly in my yard this morning, but never in a web.) Thank you for the photos, and thank you for your inspiring compassion.

Thanks for helping him/her out. They have short lives any way, no sense in it being any shorter.

Nothing wrong with intervention. In no way close to playing God.
