1083 like I said they (you) haven't been there they hand you your drink in styrofoam cup with and lid and a straw, insert straw start drinking thats the reality. They stated there was no drive thru bars the daiquiri shops are drive thru same as a mcdonalds or in out serving in much the same type of container. Yes you are not supposed to start drinking till you stopped but reality is different than letter of the law.

Whoever posted "construction of a new drive thru McDonalds on Turnpike and Calle Real will begin soon", give us details please!!

320787 - Obviously you don't know Louisiana law. They do NOT sell alcoholic beverages in an open container. Closed container only.

BTW....EVERY bottle/can of alcohol sold COULD be opened on the spot for immediate consumption. So your example of drive thru daiquiri shops is moot.

From an article in USA Today:

"Louisiana law, in addition to permitting packaged liquor sales, allows drivers to buy ready-to-drink frozen alcoholic drinks — made with rum, vodka, tequila or other alcohol with concentrations as high as 190-proof — from their cars without breaking the state's open container law. A violation only occurs if the driver or a passenger removes the lid on the drink, puts a straw through the lid hole or removes part or all of the contents, state law says."

The Fotomat was there until about 2000. I used it a few times after I moved to San Roque in 1996. It went away when they built the surgery center on part of the lot, before Trader Joe's moved in.

320694 obviously you have never visited Louisiana where they do have drive thru daiquiri shops where you can buy a lot of different types of mixed drinks at window to drink as you drive along.

Though my baby is now 14, I still remember the feeling of efficiency when I combined the errands of returning library books, doing some banking(SBB&T) and mailing bills (all on Anacapa) along with a happily napping baby.

Zizzo's is really good coffee! There is also a Jack in Box drive-thru on Hollister by Storke. MacDonalds on Fairview north of Hollister South of 101, Carl's Jr on Calle Real between Patterson & Fairview, Wendy's Old Town Goleta, In & Out off Turnpike of course, the Jacks on Milpas and State & Hitchcock and we're all waiting for Chick for Brains to open where Burger King had been. I think it was Fox Photo was the drive-thru on De La Vina a long time ago?

Zizzo's is great as is Twin Cups... If you're heading north for whatever reason early in the am, the scones at Cabin Coffee in Buellton are amazing! Delivered fresh each morning, but they run out quickly. They also have breakfast bagel sandwiches.

Will definitely have to try Twin Cups, and Zizzo's! I have a 3 month old and a 4 year old. If we go thru a drive thru, we usually go watch the planes at the airport. I get so tired of fast food, and not good for my kids either.

Twin Cups in Goleta is AWESOME!! Not only do they serve some of the best coffee in town, they have AMAZING yogurt and smoothies and Italian soda's. Their yogurt has probiotic (live-active-culture) so it is much healthier than a lot of the junk yogurt in town. They even take PHONE ORDERS. They have frequent buyer cards where you can get freebies and kids can bring their good report cards in and get specials.

Twin Cups is located at 5329 Calle Real 93111

There is no such thing as a drive-thru bar in any state.
Drive-thru liquor stores, yes. But they won't mix you a gin and tonic for the road.

There is no Wendy's on Milpas.
There is no drive-thru Taco Bell in SB or Goleta.

I remember that photo processing 1-hour place in what's now TJ's lot. Anyone remember when? Could have been late 70's early '80s?

It's good to keep a good book in the car and then you can pull over in a shady spot next to a park or by the ocean and read. That way you're saving gas and taking a time out too!

Jack in the Box at State and Hitchcock. SBB&T has a drive thru bank in Goleta but that wasn't the original question.

Somehow I remember there being a drive through coffee place in the middle of what is now the de la Vina Trader Joe's parking lot. Or was it a photo processing place?

Zizzo's drive-thru is good, usually faster doing drive-thru than going inside..also, it gets really hot inside there.

I, too, often have this conundrum. I sometimes go to the McDonalds drive thru on Fairview then park at Goleta Beach to eat.

I need to try Zizzo's and will check in to madame lu's. I would love to have chinese for lunch rather than fast food!

@647: I think that's a J in the B @ Milpas & Haley, not a Wendy's. Which is really too bad, since we NEED a Wendy's in SB.

Wendy's on Milpas at ?Haley.

In and Out Burger on Telephone

?Taco Bell on Milpas?

Put Madame Lu's number (State St) on your phone, order some good chinese food and pick it up in the parking lot. They'll bring it out to your car for you.

They have been prohibited locally for a long time. The last one approved in the city of SB was Burger King (soon to open as Chik-fil-a). SB Bank & Trust still has drive-up banking at Carrillo & Anacapa. There's a drive-up ATM at Bank of America on Calle Real in Goleta. There are occasionally pushes to change the rules, especially since cars have been retooled to minimize smog while idling, but car culture doesn't completely rule (yeah, right).

Good question. Do we have any drive up coffee joints? I see them a lot in my work travel but have not noticed many locally. I guess they may be some food trucks, but in most other places you have to track them by social media. There is the taco truck ( very good by the way) on the Westside that parks on in the gas station and often open late, but not 24 hour.
