867P: No joke. I'm 99% sure it's illegal to record even a portion of most concerts. This is usually spelled out in the performer's contract.

Contracts have nothing to do with it; copyright law/DMCA is really the more important point. On top of copyright/DMCA issues, you have artist preference, then venue rules. So even if a venue and an artist say that you can record their concert, you could be nailed by their record label if you distributed it. Even for free. Were there any signs posted at the Bowl for this show prohibiting photography? Just curious.

Don't understand the urge to videotape a concert when you should be watching it, enjoying it. I was always annoyed seeing 1000 little cell phone lights in the audience. I digress.

i was at the concert. They clarly anounced several times not to use flash and that video recording was strictly forbidden. So OP, you have done something against the rules.

864 - I do take that as a joke! Almost all concerts say you cannot record/take photos. I generally ignore those rules....Big deal!!!! Funny how everyone is talking about this but every other person in the audience at Bowl shows are smoking pot - of which does not bother me either...
