Your tax dollars at work. Everyone tries to get in on the current security fad with government contracts directing tax dollars toward rebuilding existing buildings. Who benefits from a new courthouse, exactly? Security needs are so great they can't be beefed up through retrofit? No matter how much public antipathy is directed toward government overspending, it appears they are determined to treat us as rabble and carry on regardless. And I'm speaking as a big 'ol tax n spend liberal, too. I like gov't spending on the right things, that is, like schools and libraries and bridges and public health.
