That Rainey article is So COOL! I'd be thrilled. But yeah, I'd want more. And I'd be afraid of judgment -- terrified. Keep on keeping on, Roger.

Don't know anything about it but maybe you should research doing an "e" book? From what I hear you don't make much money on them but I think it's practically free to do, but I could be wrong. And you do already have a following and we can spread the word. It has happened that a real book has evolved from an "e" book but I have to admit it's rare. Still, even if you didn't make any money you'd have the book and you wouldn't have to invest a bunch of money.

Not just a novelty. The L.A. Times reporter used the exact phrase "new-media phenomenon in Santa Barbara." I'd buy Roger's book.

How about asking some advice of the guy who wrote the LA Times article about you? The worst thing than can happen is nothing. Send him some recents posts like the blow-by-blow of the stand off. A very emotional piece. The links to the article and columnists email below. http://articles.latimes.com/2010/jun/05/entertainment/la-et-onthemedia-20100605 http://www.latimes.com/news/columnists/la-columnist-rainey,0,1738845.columnist

Roger I'm sure 994P knows what he is talking about because I've no experience in publishing and know zero about costs and whatnot. But I *do* have several books that are just collections of a writer's columns. Miami Herald humor writer Dave Barry for example. He compiles his daily columns from the Miami Herald into a book about every 2 years and they are always best sellers. Do not underestimate your following. If 994P has actual experience publishing then maybe he could introduce you to someone who can help you. I've heard that some publishers give an advance to struggling writers. If they did not, many of the best would not exist.

@RD: No doubt your fans mean well, but publishing, self-publishing, copyrighting etc. all cost time and money and while I have no doubt your loyal fans would buy a copy, it's likely you'd never make back what you pay out to produce something. Not trying to discourage you, just being realistic. By all means, write your stuff down, assemble it into some sort of draft manuscript and then get someone to look over, edit , not for "unique language" etc., but for overall cohesiveness, how it could hold up as "book," not just random recollections or a collection of columns. It's a fairly tough thing to do the right way. Friendly advice from someone with some experience in editing/publishing etc.

Roger, what everyone needs to know about the other day with the PD and rick is, him and his friends don't watch TV in his house with the door closed !! He sets his TV out side ( less then 3ft from your window, and less then 10ft from Belinda's window ) then has 8 friends over, and aq few 18pk's later there all yelling at every foul, strike, bad pass, missed field goal, tackel, ref. call, and coments on every camercial !!! And he has the nerve to call the PD on Belinda for yelling at him about the noise !! And when the PD shows, the beer cans are gone, the TV's gone, he's just standing there wearring a halow now going by ricardo. Likke I tol;d you Roger , you can always with my wife and I. Hang in there bud and you will see things tturn around !!

You've already completed the hardest part of writing a book: the essays are done. All that's left is to compile all your intros from Roger's Scanner Reports into a bound manuscript and publish. Don't edit. Your writing is perfectly you and that's what readers want. Your stories have helped many victims not to feel so alone. Also, I, personally, would enjoy a separate "best of scanner reports". Stupid criminals always crack me up. I look forward to seeing your book front and center at Chaucer's.

Roger: As you know those were classic heart attack symptoms and you probably should have had them checked out. But I understand there are probably money & insurance limitations. Still death is also a big limitation. At the very least, don't forget to take an aspirin IMMEDIATELY at a time like that (assuming you don't have bleeding ulcers or...). I'm SO sorry you have to live with that crap. I hope you can change your cicumstances. You have had so much adversity in your life. You deserve to have it easy-peasy now. Or at least tolerable. Good luck. We're rootin' for ya.

Roger, if he is threatening you can file a restraining order against him, which could actually force him to move. I would start reporting him left and right, not into feeling threatened at home, you are supposed to be safe from the world there, period! :(
