The only reason this is being discussed now has nothing to do with kids playing in parks. The real motive is due to the Cavaletto Tree Farm infill housing project. This horrendous project has two access roads one is Merida Dr. Public Works figures they better do something now before the 135 homes with 300+ vehicles (and an untold number of residents)move in. This project will be built in phases and will leave that poor neighborhood under construction for years. The traffic will be a nightmare on Patterson and people will fly down Merida Dr instead. The Eastern Goleta Valley has already seen its fair share of "infill" housing by this developer and his manipulating tactics. It's time for our county to revise this rediculous bonus density/ in lieu fee law that is ruining this beautiful place. It's only given developers with no moral code a free pass to overdevelop.
