Go to the store and buy some red snapper or halibut. Then make fish tacos. Don't eat the bait : )

You need a bigger hook, then use that sardine to catch rockfish or halibut. Then make some fish tacos.

All kidding aside, those and the local macks can be tasty if you bleed them, fillet them, and ice them down right away. Then season and grill.

Those fish have been tested positive for performance enhancing swimming substances and are not for human consumption... best to give it back to the sea.

I'm not so much seeing them in tacos; try sauteeing them with peppers, onions, garlic, and risotto. Maybe a dash of sherry? That might do the trick! Serve with rice pilaf.

Not good for fish tacos. Gut them, dip them in some flour and pan fry in in olive oil. Serve with some good crusty, maybe a squeeze of lemon, and a glass of wine. Classic Spanish dish, so good when the fish is super fresh. The proper way to eat them is take the fish put it on your slice of bread, pull off one half of the fillet eat it, flip it eat the other half, discard the bones, then enjoy the bread that now has some yummy sardine infused olive oil on it. Sardines get a bad rap, they are awesome fresh.

Don't mock the sardines (or squid either) do as done in the south beaches of Spain. Clean, give a scape leave the heads on. Give a toss with olive oil, lemon, garlic S & P. Skewer the small ones and grill over coals, preferably on the beach. Some wine and bread. Fantastic when they are fresh.

Wow,so many foodies nowadays! I remember just eating them out of a can with crackers. My dad said I could eat the fish bones and all. Let's just say I ate more crackers than bait as a kid.

The only time I ever fished off the pier as a kid, we used those sardines as bait. Cut one up, put it on a hook, tossed my line in and caught...a sardine.

I'm with Mesarats--grilled over charcoal on the beach along with some wine (is that legal?). Had them like that in Portugal, freshly netted just offshore by local kids. Well, I guess that makes them Atlantic. But they tasted great that way. Cleaned right away, eaten right away. Not good for tacos, no no no.

And don't grill the wine.
