Tip for shooting the moon..... use sunny 16 rule. It lit by direct sunlight after all.

A stunning skyscape around 3 am. monday, even with city lights. Crescent moon; Orion's belt; a faint Pleiades I think far away and straight up; various planets and brilliant stars. I'm ignorant of astronomy, appreciative of beauty and the metaphysical perspective astronomy provides, and insomniac. Hope some others see it.

Dan - That was Jupiter. Farther east and even brighter is Venus, which the Moon will be close to on the morning (after 3 AM) of Wednesday, Sep 12.

Thanks for the pic! I saw it in the evening with a planet next to it and inline with 2 very bright stars, one on each side.
