Is that fishing line around it's neck? I see pressure around the neck portion.

A triangular bite or a wound sustained from a boat propeller?

Doesn't look at all like a bite, more likely fishing line/net. No ocean predator would take a dainty little bite like that!

Watch out for those triangulars. They get mean this time of year.

I wish it was nature. Seems if it was, something would have had a good meal.

I am a wildlife rescuer I saw this in person yesterday. I was there and practically had to step over him to get a Cormorant. The sea lion died from human ignorance, he had fishing line completely wrapped around his neck. It was embedded in his neck and he likely starved to death or bled out from the wound continuing to widen.

Oh how I HATE fishing line. Have spent a lot of time cutting it out of clumps of seaweed, and collecting loops of it off the Breakwater. Fishermen need to act more responsibly. Poor sea lion.

Not just long liners, but anyone who disposes of fishing line improperly. Sure, sometimes the line breaks and a piece gets away on a lure, but I have seen wads of it, cut off or I don't know what, left on fishing piers and docks. It entangles bird feet so they can't walk or land properly. Winds around turtles, fish, sea lions, dolphins, whales, birds, and cuts into their skin. People need to clean up after themselves. I once found a bird nest, near Lake Cachuma, made almost entirely of monofilament.... complete with 3 small hooks.
