Can't say it comes as much of a surprise.

Sounds like there needs to be a better sign there, how can the man who was killed be portrayed in the wrong if there wasn't a sign, not one that anyone really heeds to it you have driven there. Maybe the guy was taking Adderal or some other prescription med that shows a false positive for Meth. That is besides the point, the amount of meth he supposedly had in his system did not cause this accident, a turn that should have a better traffic regular is to blame, and it is the word of Abe's wife that counts, she was in the big SUV so survived right. The Independent does some decent journalism, but in this case they painted a picture of a young man who died in a negative light. He is dead and never coming back, think about what you write before his family and loved ones see this. Who care's about the wife of Abel, she isn't even mentioned by name, just Abel's wife like she is his property, she was unscathed and got more written about her than the deceased. RIP

Isn't that convenient? Wink wink, nudge nudge, say no more!

The fact that the man who caused the accident had a sufficient amount of Meth in his system to be impaired is significant. If Mrs. Maldonado had the same amount of meth wouldn't that change things? The fact is he had a stop sign. Just because people regularly run the stop does not make it okay that he did. It makes the other people just as wrong. If he was taking adderal or some other drug that can give a false positive he was abusing it given the levels found. If those other drugs are abused or taken by a person who does not have a medical condition that requires them to be prescribed they can also cause a high that can impair driving. Just because someone dies does not excuse their bad decisions and automatically make them saints.

I never said he was a saint, nor is Maldanado because she is married to a politician. The fact is that is that part of road is dangerous and someone didn't yield, only the survivor knows who that was.If indeed the deceased had a prescription for a slew of medications that come up as false positives for Meth, does not mean it is Meth and does not mean it effected his driving. Many prescriptions for depression,ADD, anxiety, pain, ect.are prescribed to be taken daily and thus they build up in your system to treat your ailment or psychological disorder. Millions drive on these everyday and it doesn't inhibit them from driving which you are insinuating. If anyone takes a normal recommended dose daily of a prescription med that shows a false-positive for meth they are driving legally. If it is meth they are not, only a more thorough test can determine the exact substance in the body, something the county won't pay for, they would rather just label it Meth and ruin this mans legacy.

It wasn't a yield it was a STOP and he didn't...

I think 297/319's point is that it's her word against his - and considering he's dead, that pretty much only leaves one person's word. Not that s/he said it that well, or concisely.

If there is a stop sign, it's pretty easy to determine fault. It's not rocket science. The lesson here is stop means stop. The rest is apologies for bad behavior while driving. Thank God more people weren't hurt.

Lets stick to the facts. The guy had a stop sign. The guy tested positive for Meth. I think that is enough to figure out what happened. I am sorry the guy lost his life but I think we all know who is at fault here. The responsibility is fully on the guy and no amount of ignoring the facts are going to change that.

356p, no. Just, no. It's never "enough" to assume that something you perceive is a fact.

You may be absolutely right in your assessment, this guy may not have stopped and it might be his full responsibility for his own death. Happens every day.

But to take your own assumption and make it into truth is to be part of the problem of rampant illogical thought we deal with in our world right now.

Don't say that a person taking an RX for adderall is FALSE POSITIVE for amphetamines. A positive for amphetamines is positive for amphetamines. It doesn't matter if the source is a pharmacy or a drug dealer.

It's time to stop pretending that there is any major difference. The only difference is that street meth isn't as pure. But it's the same stuff and works the same way.

If this guy was taking Adderall to increase his focus it failed him. He didn't notice the stop sign.

Why anyone would be defending this guy goes beyond the pale.

Driving is not a human right and to do so badly with wanton disregard for the safety of others is a crime. I don't care if he was otherwise a charming and sensitive caring young man, the fact he put everyone who crossed his path at risk for what he ended up doing to himself makes him a sociopath.

If you want to defend him I can only surmise you support his actions and want to blame the occupants of the other vehicle for his death which makes you no more aware of your faculties than he was.

He did this to himself and the part you fail to note is that he could've taken you and/or anyone of us with him. That is not a human right either.

If you test positive for meth, then its a positive test result. It does not matter if its an Rx. You are not supposed to drive with any drugs. YES its a positive test BUT this does not mean this was the cause of the accident. This is an easy way out if you are trying to find a cause. It could have been a number of things. One thing i do know is if your on ice, you are wide awake. So i feel that this could only make you more of an alert driver. What about people who smoke marijuana and drive. Would you feel that this would be just as horrible and the main reason and cause of the accident?

Anyone who believes that Maldonado didn't have the test results "edited" probably also thinks he's in the right for not paying his taxes.
