There's something particularly reprehensible about stealing from rural farmers, ranchers, and residents. Rural residents are more self-sufficient, and endure more hardships because they live so independently. To have people invade your remote space and steal from you is a double assault. I hope they throw the book at these guys.

355: Agree, I feel much worse for a farmer scraping by than I would for say a Wall Street exec.

LOL.... I can't believe one guy out on bail couldn't help himself and had to continue stealing fuel from ranches. That's not just a case of serial larceny but addiction to larceny.

What these guys do is steal fuel that will be used to power generators for the hundreds, if not thousands, of underground marijuana grows between SYV and Santa Maria. Many farmers have resorted to using their land to grow pot because it is 1000x more lucrative. When you steal fuel, then there is no record of you purchasing fuel. Huge fuel purchases, like huge energy bills, are a red flag for the Feds who are looking for large scale marijuana grows. These pot farmers are rightly paranoid. Many own their own fuel trucks, which cuts down on the traceability. They all want to stay off the grid, and these underground pot bunkers are plugged in nowhere. The underground rooms are covered with enough dirt to grow something, making detection from aircraft impossible. Pure genius, actually. Right up until the point where the brain-dead Mexicans you hired to steal fuel for you get caught. Ooops.

Terrible crime, but this has nothing to do with marijuana grows. More likely to sell and use the stolen gas..

how would you build an underground bunker large enough for a pot farm, undetected? Where are the fans, pumps, fuel storage facilities, etc? under camo netting?
