some bike rider got hit by a car - while walking to to work I over heard a lady telling the police officer that she had stopped and the biker ran into the car

the bike did not look damaged - but the biker was carted off in an ambulance

It's hard to stop fixed gear bikes.

That's an expensive ride - hope he's okay. An awful lot of bikers are very careless, riding around town, talking on their handheld cellphones, but perhaps that's not against the law as it is for car drivers?

I really DO NOT want to hit someone on a bicycle, but they are soooo careless. Swerving, eating while riding, cell phone use, riding on the line~ instead of closer to the curb, riding side-by-side instead of single file, sitting in the "turn" lane instead of the "straight" lane... It's awful. Occasionally, I will do a little beep-beep

And now there is a State Law going through the system to cite DRIVERS if they do not give the biker 3 feet of clearance ... Are you kidding me!

How about making more laws to make bike riders look out for their own safety! Ride responsible, you have a lot more to lose then the driver who has a car wrapped around them!

398, a couple of years ago I remember hearing about two women in a bicycle race along the 101 south getting blown into the guardrail by a passing truck and seriously injured from it. The bicyclists were following the rules (albeit that is an idiotic place to ride if not for necessity) AND the truck was following the rules, but people still got hurt! If the laws in place, when followed to a T, are still not enough to protect people, guess what...we need better ones.
