Question: When the exhibit closes, what happens to the butterflies? Do they stay and finish up their life cycle, or get sent somewhere else?

We asked: When the last butterfly dies ( the "hatchery" is located in a secure area elsewhere), all the plants will be gathered up and burned in order to protect our environment from the possibility of invasive species spreading. Federal (USDA) law!! It's the same thing that is applied at agricultural check points upon entering California.
