The District Attorney should go after the slumlord owners of 717 and 718 Cook for allowing criminal activity on their property. Hit the property owners hard and they'll quit renting to these scumbags.

As a property owner in Santa Barbara I assure you we do not want these kinds of tenants. Unfortunately in California the tenants have far more rights than the landlord. I have been accused of 'discrimination' every time I have tried to evict someone like this, and the courts actually side with the low life.

46: The article wasn't meant as a platform to complain about the plight of landlords. How about we all lament how terrible it is that innocent kids were in the middle of a drug lab and sales situation? On another note, how about if the police just wait outside a tattoo parlor and nab everyone getting a neck tat. I've yet to meet or see someone with a neck tat who was not getting pinched for a drug or violent felony!

Between the neck tats and the skinny eyebrows, it's almost as if it's code for, "I'm a lowlife." Talk about dumb...

Neck tattoo's don't make you a criminal, you say don't judge a book by it's cover yet you automatically label someone by their ink. I don't have any neck tats but they are very common. Besides that the cops aren't too smart in this county. I have lived here off and on since birth and it is easy to find out who is dealing, even if you don't use drugs. I just don't understand why they let them operate while under surveillance for so long, especially after neighborhood complaints. I have friends who got into that stuff growing up and it is a shame but the penalties aren't enforced or they are offered rehab just to use longer. If someone moves into your neighborhood and has heavy traffic of people coming and going, don't seem to work yet have nice cars and toys, are anti-social or have the curtains drawn at all hours, chances are they are selling or using the house as a place to use. Be proactive in your neighborhood, don't depend on the cops.

578P Yep, the "boomerang eyebrows" are frequently a neck tattoo accessory. It's like a forehead tattoo that says "I'm a nasty girl."

@571 - I believe that 546 was only responding to the previous post about making the landlords accountable. I agree with 546, that the tenants have way more rights than the landlords and the courts will always favor the tenants.

Every time they arrest a drug dealer, they create a job vacancy. Time to stop wasting time and money on the War on (some) Drugs.

Do you think they have a long history of selling drugs ? I wonder how many times they have been arrested. Must be known in some circles here.

It always seems a bit worse to me when it's a woman. Just my opinion. They did an awful lot of damage to some young blossoming lives here in SB. And...those neck tattoos. Sigh.
