im not sure what the mayor has to do with car break ins.. but as a san roque resident.. I'd like to know what "around here" means. Were the break ins spread out? or confined to one street?

I am so looking forward to a non-Janet Wolf era. That being said, the desperate thieves stole my dogs beach toys out of the back of my pick up and even stole a "Play skool" bench from my little carport. It's sad really. However, in a few years they'll admit to all this and we'll throw them a parade, give them a trophy and a $50,000 grant to help the County Representatives study thieves.

I grew up in San Roque and own a home there and have seen it change in recent years. Stevens Park/willowglen use to be a family park where woman in the area went with their newborns during the day, Northside patrolled that park and neighborhood along with the Skins. Now their are pinata parties from outsiders who drink too much and leave their trash, punks tagging trees, rocks, and polluting the streams with their cans and bottles. Apparently we have one ranger who covers all of Jesusita and the parks, but is so out of shape he rarely gets out and enforces. The robberies are usually from outsiders or kids. Time to face reality and lock your doors when you leave, it sucks but eventually a nice neighborhood gets ruined. I hope you try and rob my property or I catch you tagging our parks, in my area we don't call the cops and use our own form of justice.

San Roque has been invaded by the pencil-thin eyebrow, neck tat-adorned Santa Barbara High crowd.

Same happened in Winchester Canyon a few nights ago. I don't think it's the neighborhoods changing - it's tough economic times that see increases in crime everywhere. I doubt they're going to hit the same neighborhoods two nights in a row, so just don't get complacent in ANY neighborhood and make sure to lock your cars!

Go around picking up after the dogs owners don't bother to; put it all in a purse ($1 thirft store) and leave it in the back of your truck or in the car. What a nice surprise when they get home to count the loot.

When will people learn to not leave things worth taking in their cars?? Cars aren't going to stop being broken into ... but if you're leaving things worth taking, in plain sight or not, you're not helping much. Sucks, but its true...
