Did they go sailing or just hang about on the boat? By the lack of sailing appearance of the guests, they looked to me like potential buyers. Here are some details about the Mayan.

OK all you sailors, what is the upright apparatus behind the skipper with the notched wooden crossbar? Use?

OP here, thanks for all the comments. It's great that people have a sense of humor and can weave other Edhat subjects into my photos. Mtndriver, it's the roof for the bench. And FYI, in 1988 I was working at San Ysidro Ranch when CSN&Y stayed there. I walked by while they sat on the front porch and practiced. That was the first time I saw David in person. He was friends with a woman that worked there. She drove a white 1959 Cadillac with plates that said, "BK2FUTR." I know she also lived on the Mayan. If you recall, for 20+ years it was moored very close to Brophy's. It's hard to miss. Yet, in the 20 years that I've seen the Mayan, this is the first time I've seen him on it. So here I am, 24 years later I saw David and I took some photos.

@229: Fiona is a tot whose family posts pictures of her on Edhat every time she sneezes. The pictures are deliberately blurred, out of focus or otherwise designed so that Fiona is never actually seen, presumably to thwart predators or something. The pictures are usually on the order of "Fiona goes to the podiatrist," "Fiona escapes from Kmart" and "Fiona watches paint dry." Pretty scintillating stuff.

So Dan, did you ask him if you could take his photo? Cause in every shot it looks as thougbh he's trying to avoid you. Maybe he put the boat up for sale cuz he's sick of people pointing and staring, and announcing his name over a loudspeaker (Lil toot) every time he goes out for a sail.

Glad to see the Mayan is back in SB harbor. He had the boat up for sale last winter and it moved to Ventura for a while to make it easy to show. David should never sell that boat!! It is the only worldly possession that he was able to keep though his drug years. He loves that boat and that boat loves him!! Sail on

Or maybe he was photographing Fiona on the Landshark and the Mayan got in the way. Life is always so much better when you can look at it with a smile on your face.

Flicka: TMZ reports that after winning "Little Miss Out Of Focus" on Toddlers & Tiaras, Fiona is now working at a tattoo parlor in Venice Beach. She's dating 50 Cent and is in talks with MTV about starring in a new TV series, "Santa Barbara Shore," in which she'll take by storm such local places and events as the Santa Barbara Zoo, the Funk Zone, and happy hour at Sharkees. Taking a cue from TLC's adorable moppet Honey Boo Boo, Fiona is changing her name to Bunny Fru Fru in homage to her childhood literary hero. Hey, you asked.

Being a landscaper/gardner and a cat lover is way better than a paparazzo. The latter are not better than politicians trying to pick your pocket or lawyers. Why aspire to debase yourself? But if you're going to debase yourself the key to street photography and stolen candids is to get the one "gotcha" and walk away. As a reputable street photographer (not a paparazzo) ask permission of your subjects with a smile, a look showing your camera and agreement in return. You'll get more pleasing results when your subject feels respected by you as opposed to exploited or slimed. Photography is about capturing emotion as well as creating it. Here I get the feeling he'd like to give you the finger salute if it wouldn't find itself on the front page of The Daily Sleaze and fill your pockets with ready-cash.

David was such a nice boy when we were teenagers, hope he still is as sweet. Really like Fiona comments; as someone mentioned, she has become iconic. What is she up to now?

Good news that there'll be some shelter from rain at one SB bus stop, as well as from sun. I wonder how skin cancers resulting from a total of 100's of hours waiting for buses rates in comparison with pedestrian/vehicle accidents. I've been wondering how many decades after Goleta it would take SB to condescend to the health and safety of bus passengers by providing shelters - and it's a good way to make bus transportation more attractive. A quick job! Billy Goodnick's mystery photo was Tues. or Wed.? He picked a beautiful day to sail, and a beautiful boat to do it.
