And Obama isn't using the same tactics? EVERYONE uses as many tax loopholes and exemptions as they can. Once again, we are faced with the "evil of two lessers". My dyslexia is not by accident.

Well, he paid more taxes than Mitt. So... I'd say he's not using exactly the same tactics...

@ SY - At least say he paid a HIGHER PERCENTAGE, because he certainly didn't pay more dollars than Romney. But don't kid yourself to think that Obama didn't benefit from capital gains as well. The idea that investment profits should be tax at the same rate as regular income is so ridiculous. Who in their right mind would risk money, to be taxed at the same rate as the guy working a 9-5 with absolutely zero financial risk at all?

yOu folks are ridiculous. Show me one person who pays more than the law? no one. Both Mitt and Obama used the current tax code and big deal. If you have an issue wth that, talk to the president, who could have changed the tax plan, not Mitt.

So witty. Now please write a poem about Lois Capps deliberately failing to report rental income for 4 straight years then claiming she "forgot" she had a renter living in her house who paid her $41,000.

You asked about dealings of our Lois Capps. She rented her house to a fam'ly of saps. Through 41K she took lots of naps. And forgot to pay tax--watch the country collapse. There. Happy now?

SY-since I paid "more" taxes than Barack or Mitt, by your standards I guess I should be President. Is it too late to apply?

One reason Romney paid so little tax is because people who run hedge funds take their profits not as regular income but as capital gains. This is legal. But it's frowned upon because Romney is profiting off other people's money provided by investors, not by him. Many argue that income should be taxed at the regular rate, not 15%, because Romney didn't invest in any capital. This is perhaps an issue for future tax reform. There's also some morally questionable issues associated with setting up his accounts in the Cayman's, etc. Again, legal, but questionable with potential for fraud. Romney needs to release more tax returns. Otherwise everyone will think he avoided paying taxes with a Swiss Bank Account prior to the 2009 IRS amnesty program. It also looks fishy because John McCain's campaign had access to decades of Romney's tax returns but chose Sarah Palin for VP instead.

No facts in the poem. Just implying Mitts not paying what the author thinks Mitt should be. Cute but not convincing. I need much more detailed facts to decide weather his type of income should be taxed at a higher rate. Even if I based it on the quality of rhyme this one wouldn't change my mind. I do know tax's are too complex and the Federal government spends too much money. Two facts I agree with.

We can easily end this tax envy with a flat tax and no deductions. I wonder why the President hasn't proposed this yet. Maybe it has to do with the fact that his tax rate is much lower that millions of Americans.

315220P - Obama has stated more than once that he WANTS to pay higher taxes, but the right will not let that happen. BTW, the tax rates for high income earners were lowered in 2001 and 2003. NOT after 2008. So your question does not reference reality nor facts. A better question would be - why will the right not let the tax cuts expire?

From out of nowhere there came an Obama with ideals greater than than the Dali Lama Now four year later for all to see there was no substance to Mr. B. So those who voted in mindless fashion find jobs more important than partisan passion

In my opinion the difference between the right and left is: Republicans lie a lot, they say one thing and do the exact opposite while blaming the oversight on everything but themselves Democrats promise things that they never deliver and often times never had the intention to deliver. They say what they think is the right thing but never follow through. Here are a couple of nice links for you to checkout. zfacts . com - some great statistics on the actual historical actions by both parties. unpartial . com - a new and interesting site that tries to present the news without the OpEd influence...
