Hi I take offense to the person that says that the burglary occurred because we are careless and don't lock our doors! All my doors were locked and they still got in! So don't assume something you don't know! Plus I'm pretty sure if you had been the victim and had your jewelry and electronics stolen, you would not appreciate such comments! Anyway, besides locks I am now have alarms installed.

Wireless do-it-yourself alarm systems can be had for $200, offset by a slight reduction in your insurance policy. There are several websites that sell a variety and provide tech support for installation and troubleshooting, if needed. The wireless systems can even be purchased with a T-Mobile prepayed SIM card that would only be used for alarms and system tests. While not a guarantee, most bad guys skip houses when they see a real alarm system in place.

We rented for a few years in San Roque,Very Nice area. IT is easy to see all the maid/gardener trucks there and think it is routine, while the burgler is actually the one there. Long driveways, cameras are great!

463 last year several break in's in the San Roque area. They used a bb gun to shoot out windows in doors to gain entry.

Besides locking up, don't leave gardening tools, ladders, etc, lying around that burglars can use as tools to break in. That's what happened to me. The house was all locked up and they used a shovel I left out to pry open a window.

I don't get it. Are you being careless and leaving your homes unlocked while you're away? DUH! stop that. LOL I know that some people are going to cry and say, "But wah wah wah I don't want to lock up every night like I live in the ghetto." Well, then you will soon be a burglary victim! I don't even leave my house windows open anymore because of this. It doesn't matter if you live in San Roque or the Eastside. You honestly CANNOT be too trusting and careful when you leave your home unattended.

I was thinking about moving into the San Roque area too, because it's pretty centrally located. Maybe I won't after all. Seems like there's always something going on.

Costco has some good security camera systems for very reasonable prices. Even fake cameras might help.

I live on Calle Rosales in the San Roque neighborhood and my house was also burglarized yesterday, 8/29 between 9:30am and 11am. My laptop, iPad, and jewelry were all stolen and made off with in one of my suitcases.

It would be helpful if you let us know what street this occurred on as the San Roque area covers about 5 sq. miles...

Neighborhood Watch.....when neighbors are alert and watch out for each other maybe the burglaries in that area will stop. Are there more burglaries in San Roque than other neighborhoods, seems like we are hearing a lot in that area lately.

Sounds like a burglary to me, not a robbery.

I'd suggest putting up some surveillance cameras, especially if this keeps happening to you.

It's a burglary when it is a break-in, a robbery when it is in person.

Sorry to hear this, but I'm confused. Is this a robbery or a burglary? There's a difference. If someone confronts you in person, it's a robbery. If they steal while you're not there, it's a burglary.
