Just saw a Silver Pickup flying across West Sola Street toward State St. with 3 Police Cars chasing at high speed with sirens blaring. Must be the same guy?

. Santa Barbara CHP dropped out of pursuit..Coffee break. Guy went in circles through Montecito and downtown Santa Barbara craziest chase I have ever heard..Heehee suspect is behind a slow moving vehicle doing 50 past Lake Cachuma. I could just imagine the guy running from the cops..Op! Passing slow moving vehicle 80mph..Speeds 65mph lite traffic.

Amazing! I went out to walk the dog on the lower east and heard the sirens coming up 101 from the south and then saw the flashing lights; a few minutes later the sirens/lights seemed to be headed back south on 101 but then seemed to be off the freeway. Thanks for the reporting!!!!

Well, that was exciting! I followed the reference here to the police scanner and it said 180 were following it. Probably all Edhat subscribers. Gotta love Edhat and Roger! I guess we'll have to wait till tomorrow to learn about the driver.

A lot of work still to be done... Can you imagine the reports they'll be writing? They're starting/running a traffic break in 1700 block at 12:23 a.m. I thought I earlier heard the word "wallet"? Also heard "UTL" (unable to locate) 20-30 minutes ago.

Roger, you are the BEST! I was getting ready for bed, heard the sirens, and then they never seemed to stop and they seemed to get closer....walked out to the street, couldn't see any glow of a fire along the foothills....still sirens but impossible to figure out where they were....no wonder! high speed chasing throughout the streets of downtown and the fwy and the pass..they were everywhere. Came back in, logged on to EdHat, and sure enough, you were there! THANK YOU ROGER DODGER!

The chase started in Montecito, not Carp. I started posting while the chase was headed to Carp. Long before Carp. the guy was failing to yield on East Valley Road, and San Ysidro. I was in bed hoping he would get pulled over rightaway but it kept going on and on and on..So I got up and started to cover it when the driver was heading to Carp. I had no idea the chase was going to last as long as it did the guy was doing so many different manuvers through Downtown S.B. I thought the lead chase Depuity was going to lose his marbles. "He's going the wrong way on Anacapa, going South on Santa Barbara, Sola, Micheltorena, North on Anacapa!" It was like that the whole time..After going over the Micheltorena bridge to San Andreas and Carrillo, Mercedes back over the bridge back into town I heard the SBSO Supervisor yell "If you can take him out! He has no reguard to pedrestrians, or other motorists!" The first Spike Strip they were going to lay out in Winchester canyon on 101. They talked about Milpas but he was around Santa Claus at that time and they were concerned for other motorists..The reason they were chasing him is he had felony warrents in San Luis, they also thought he may have a swaed off shotgun on him as he was known to carry one. I think he was also under the infulence of something or drunk he was constantly going over the double yellow lines and reported "All over the road." Several times.. I am very surprised there were no other accidents, or people run over. I actually saw part of the chase as the suspect went off Garden crusing around Laguna and Olive went South to Milpas I missed the Tacoma but saw all the SO Cars going toward the infamous Cacique Street UNDERPANTS to Alisos to Carpinteria back to Milpas, North to Anapamu and thru town again. I pretty much remember the whole route. It was alittle over an hour started in Montecito and even though I pretty much covered the whole thing and showed it to Ballistic Belinda she believes it started in Carp just like good old KEYT says. I may not be a Ken Doll on KEYT, or a Real NP, Noozhawk, or I9ndependant Journalist but from now on I will carry my trusty old Radio Shack pro-135 Scanner with pride, like the nerd I yam...:) Thank You for the comments everyone they mean alot to me...

Too bad they didn't take this idiot out- He risked the lives of EVERYONE out on the streets, especially the drivers on the pass. Now our failed justice system will process him and he will once again be out on the streets. I would venture to guess he's been in and out of jail numerous times already.

Thanks! The dogs were howling long before I heard the sirens , and then finally my human ears picked them up. Sirens seemed to go on forever, from here near Summerland off East Valley. I was very curious as to what was going on, and I thank you for your detailed and extensive report!

wow. thankx roger! i was up watching a show and it went siren crazy outside ( bath + victoria downtown ) i literally heard and felt the whooosh of the police cars as they sped past my house sirens blaring, ALOT of sirens!

Alittle confusing I re read it When he was going the wrong way on Anacapa and Santa Barbara the lead pursuer from the Sheriffs Dept. sounded like he was an announcer at a Square Dance and he started saying some of the streets wrong..I too got all mixed up. I would love to have a tape of the depuity yelling all that again..It was really something the guy was really moving..
