Good. These people need to learn to drive. Granted, most are tourists from out of town so they care even less about the streets and the people on them. I'd like to see a Tourist Injunction.

I've nearly been killed walking downtown about a dozen times because of people blowing through crosswalks, taking turns without looking at the people in crosswalk, etc. Once a woman driving a Range Rover was blowing down State looking at her phone and not the road, and came to a screeching halt as my co-worker and I, along with another person were crossing in a mid-block crosswalk. She stopped right in front of the other person we were crossing with and he slammed both hands down on her hood, yelling at her that she almost killed us. As soon as we were clear of her car she sped off while still looking at her phone. I've kicked the sides of cars as they blew past me in crosswalks, and would have most definitely punched a few drivers if they gave me the chance. IF what I'm reading is correct, it sounds like this guy was almost crushed and punched out a windshield, the crime is on the driver not the pedestrian.

Wait.... for ALMOST hitting someone you should get hit in return? How is that self defense? For soiling the guy's sheets? I'm sure the driver soiled his/her sheets too and now has to replace an expensive windshield. Nothing fair and balanced about that!

I saw a car almost hit a pedestrian last weekend, it was REALLY close, but it was because the car was coming through the intersection on a yellow light and the pedestrian stepped out in front of them before the car finished coming through the crosswalk. Totally pedestrian's fault and it scared all of us who saw it. We don't know the full story of what happened but I work right near that intersection and both drivers & pedestrians are careless in this area. Almost getting hit is no excuse for busting a windshield, could have been one of these lovely downtown vagrants that did it after jaywalking in front of the car...

I punched a windshield once and it cracked. They are not very strong. Hurt one of my knuckles a little bit. It was my own truck though, didn't think it would break, I was just really mad.

My daughter, when she was a teenager was telling me a story about being angry with someone, punctuated it with a window punch as we drove alone in our VW Bug. Window smashed. Boy was she surprised. Me too.

From my observations, tourists are not speeding, running red lights and blowing stop signs. The locals are the impatient ones.

I always blame the tourists when I see someone run a red light. Who else would be looking in any direction except straight ahead where the light is? Looking for good looking locals, restaurants, street names, store windows, etc. Someday I won't be as lucky and I will be in the intersection when they do it and both of our lives will be ruined.

@569 I'm saying if anyone attacked my vehicle and did damage to it, I'd call 9-1-1 and then detain the perp with overwhelming force and authority. Does that clear it up for you? It's NOT OK for someone to damage your car, even if you accidently miss them. Accidents happen and are not malicious. Punching and damaging a car is violent and malicious in addition to being a crime.
