One engine can handle putting out the fire, engine 3 can return to service.

Good that all is well.....but who the heck owns this property?? There seems to be a report of a fire here once a week. You would think that whoever owns this property could take better care of it!

There’s a large colony of hobos living in the brush there. They’re the same chaps who stand at the top of the Las Positas exit from the southbound 101 and mooch for money. They work in two-hour shifts. As soon as they garner a few bucks from gullible drivers, they head on over one block to the liquor store to slake their thirst. If the CHP would enforce loitering and panhandling laws on highway exits, the problem would go away. Rousting vagrants doesn’t bring in revenue, so this is obviously low priority for the cops.

Hobos are different from Bums those are Bums bumming money for drink. Hobos travel around and work unless there isn't any.

If I lived around there, I would start sending letters to the property owners and police. Save a copy. When they finally set a fire that spreads and destroys part of the town, you'll need those letters to use in court to prove the owners/police knew about the problem. I am doing the same with a group of transients living in the brush around where I live.

I see the panhandling going on there and see several homeless types walking on Las Positas but thought there was some kind of a shelter in the area. Now i find out the shelter is the bushes. Caltrans cut back some brush along the off ramp but I guess the panhandlers moved down in that gully area. This might explain why there is so much trash on the other side, at the northbound onramp. Come on, city, get after this situation and get after Caltrans to clean all this up. LA is doing a better job maintaining their Caltrans roads. Doesn't this Caltrans district have a new director? Can't we get him down here to see this mess?
