They've been doing it for years...."we're doing work in the neighborhood (working for you neighbor), do you need any work done? Tree trimming to solar panel installations." A simple question to see which neighbor or where the current job site is for a recommendation results in a quick hang up.

I've gotten 3 calls this week from an outfit called "Superior Construction", phone number is blocked, and they claim to have offices all over California. I am on the Do Not Call list so it is illegal to keep phoning. Beware if they call you. Who knows who/what they are.

My elderly mother is on the do not call list as well, she must get a dozen of these types of contractors in the area calls. This last week it was a "I knew your husband and I have some free building supplies" This one forgot to block his number from caller id, and I think when I called back (from a different #) they let it go to an answering machine that played tones like it was disconnected but lacked the normal "this number is no longer in service" message. I would love to see the Sheriff's Dept help sting these guys by setting up appointments with them and let the deputies be the ones at the house.
