1- how do you get lost in between those two places??? Yes, that big mountain in front of you is lacumbre peak, walk away from it and you'll end up in SB. 2-why do you hike somewhere you've never been and may get lost when its extremely hot outside???

Hey... lets allow a few people to get and STAY lost up there. Maybe people will begin to rethink their journeys into the outdoors and plan a little bit better. AND we should charge them personally for a non-emergency medical rescue. Term it the Darwin fee! Lets put an end to stupidity, naturally.

It reminds me of the time we hiked up Whitney. We had returned to the base and witnessed a couple people come down the trail and reported to the ranger that a couple members of their group were having difficulty on the trail. The ranger simply told the people to go back and help them. There was no offer of aid of any type.

Maybe it's a reliance on cell phones to easily call for help rather than keeping track of where you are or figuring out how to reacquire your bearing when you get disoriented. Sheesh

Seven Falls is a popular spot for out-of-town tourists, especially the more fit ones from Europe. Many have never been in this area and don't have maps, etc. If they're not locals, I'd cut them some slack. I've seen locals wander off the main route coming down Cathedral too, it's easier to do than you'd think.

You'd better not criticize if all you're doing is sitting in front of your computer. It's treacherous up there and I'm glad the hikers are getting some help!

Of all the well marked trails why do people attempt this one? Either one come to think of it. Both are horribly marked and anyone who suggests to someone who's never been up there to try is leading lambs to the slaughter. BTW.... Cathedral Peak Tr. overlooks 7 Falls so on the map they are very close to one another separated by a very steep wall.

Lost on 7 falls?.....go down the creek. Lost on Cathedral/Arlington?....go down the ridge. Its as simple as that.

We should all stop paying to support the dumb people of this world. MAYBE THEN, they will learn something once they are forced to survive on their own. No more nanny state.

For those that think that it's easy to get down from Cathedral Peak, you obviously haven't been on that trail. After the fire, Cathedral Peak trail was difficult to follow. Very easy to go off trail without knowing it, even before the fire. Now that it has vegetation, there are many false trails going in to nasty zones. If the hikers don't realize that, they can get pretty mixed up. This is probably the hardest hike in the front range to navigate. It's best to go with someone who has successfully done the hike before. In spite of it being a nasty trail (that's why we like it!), it has it's rewards in shear beauty.
