Hi Roger - I too am a scanner enthusiast, and I use rechargeable batteries in my handheld Uniden Bearcat. I can't see using regular batteries, as I would go thru them pretty fast. The brand is Energizer AA, and I'm still using the same 2 batteries for well over a year now. Cheers!

Thanks for remembering Bill Downey. He was a friend of my first husband (another writer/editor) and it's good to know his impact is still felt in Santa Barbara.

Roger, you're the best thing about Edhat. Your reports (and code reds) are what keep me reading every day. Thanks for all you do. There are lots of us out here who appreciate you. I guess we need to make more noise!

Roger, I love your scanner reports. It's absurd that anyone would complain to the editor. You can't catch everything nor are you required to do so. I look at your reports as a briefing for some things that are going on. If someone is expecting scanner reports to relay every single actual happening, they obviously haven't listened to a scanner before. Carry on!

We enjoy your work, Roger. What was the reason given to you that there were too many Code Reds? The immediacy of the C.R.'s is appreciated and the fact that they are being "controlled" as you say, is troubling. Stay cool.

Keep up the good work, telling it like it is and giving us a heads up of what is happening. I read this from Baja , but I feel that I am right back home getting an overview hourly. I often know what is happening up in Santa Barbara before my friends and family hear or read about it. Because of edhat, and you, Roger.

Shoots, I go on here all the time to see what is going on through Roger's Code Reds. There are not too many, there are now too few!!!! More Code Reds!! It is such a helpful resource!

Thank You everyone for your comments.. I was mildly irked that day it was very hot in my house about 105 I could not get out of here because I had no batteries I do now. They are "AA" BATTERIES. I usually use regular batteries but might get a charger one of these days..Some of the Code Reds were not serious enough I guess and are now subject to approval by the Editor. I don't know who complained but Oh Well sometimes things get real busy. Fires always come first we live right next to the forest. Anyway thanks for the comments very nice I always love the comments...

Great work, Roger. Don't let the "trolls" get to you. Have you ever looked at what % of the reports relate to transients? Seems like they represent a lot of calls....

Check out the video from yeasterday on Milpas communitys Facebook site when Tri County Produce employees asked a young homeless couple to leave the proptery. I think I heard an illegal camper call there yeasterday but did not get it written down..I don't know about exact percentage of calls involve transients probley over 60 percent.
