Thanks for the info - live a 1/2 mile away - all ok here.
Hope your "power" is restored. " Good Service " is like a foreign word these days, perhaps due to deregulation.

Live less than half a mile from you. NO problems here. Why do you think it has anything to do with the "smart meter"?

Could it have been a rolling blackout? SCE has warned we might have them due to the hot weather.

They are replacing poles on APS for the El Encanto upgrade. Local businesses were told early in the week.

+1 on 632. Hard to miss the one-way traffic control all day yesterday on APS, multiple crane trucks, lots of guys in hard hats and day-glo vests. Check it out.

Pole replacement - power back at 9:15 pm. SCE did research after a call in the morning and found no record of a report to me or any neighbors warning of blackout. Unconscionable customer treatment.

My aunt lives on Mission Ridge, she got a huge card in the mail a week ago warning of the power being off from 7am-7pm yesterday (Thur)

I work in Riviera Park, and was warned of the planned blackout last week.

Whenever I find myself getting all flustered about rotten service from the utilities I often find I'm at fault. Either I got the notice and disregarded it or I deleted the voicemail without listening to it. Now if only my memory didn't fail me at the most inconvenient times I might know what is going on around me. Getting old sucks!

How come no one tells SCE thank you for keeping the power on 99.9999999% of the time? Does anyone realize that they are usually working with infrastructure that is older than the employees working on the system? The only way to upgrade the system to keep it in working order for the next 80 years is to shut down the power for a few hours once or twice a year to perform basic repairs or upgrades.. Several months ago, I lost power for 23 hours. I wasn't on edhat whining about it, I know that it takes someone special to work on high voltage to keep my residence powered up the other 364 days a year. During the Gap Fire I lived on the side of the mountain that was burning and only lost power for 14 hours. That's impressive!
Next time you go to work, think of your work in this respect: If you do it wrong, you will die; if you do it wrong lots of people may die, millions of dollars in equipment and information will be lost or destroyed and you must do it so that it will perform under the worst conditions man and nature will throw at it. Treat every day at work like this and you might get an idea what the employees at your local utility go through every day.

I work in IT where 5 9's of reliability is the goal 99.99999% uptime. When my co-workers whine, I remind them that no one ever writes SCE to thank them for reliable electric service. The phone don't ring unless something's broken - just the way it is in these lines of work. If you want kudos, you're in the wrong line of work.
