yes 098, that's what makes it a party. the driver, on the other hand, was an uninvited guest. genius.

You wouldn't see a crash like this during a 420 celebration, unless someone crashed on a couch.

The sad thing here is that the young man that crashed into our home also drove thru a memorial garden, destroyer items of great sentimental value!!! Especially a carefully grown, lighted and manicured " D " !!! It was early, around 9:30 pm... He had a drinking wristband on and was traveling at a very high rate of speed as he tried to make the turn above our house off Las Positas! He was not a guest!!! We were having a Fiesta BBQ for our close friends and families, who were all extremely traumatized since we were all sitting or standing very close as he came crashing thru the guardrail, trees shrubs, fence, and tool shed next to the pool, sending tools and equipment flying everywhere, even on top of the women who were pushed out of the path of the van and into the pool!!! We are all extremely thankful that no one was seriously hurt!!!

Please tell me he went to jail. Of course he won't stay long enough and the punishment won't be strong enough to be a deterrent. I'm sorry for your and your friends' experience, and the fact that even if he has great insurance, this is a major headache for you.

For those of you that were wondering about the 21 year old driver, he is out of jail and was not hurt! Very fortunate young man!!!

I'm betting the Hikers asked permmission. Compelled to make a derogatory remark? Homeowners, so sorry you and your family and guests had to have this horrible experience. I annually have a family (and friends) Fiesta party, can't imagine having a drunk driver crashing in. Glad no one was hurt, could have killed a loved one.

@126 So glad you are okay. Yikes, this will be a memorable party. Thanks for the follow-up. Often I see reports of events which I never know anything more about, so thanks to Edhat and the Urban Hikers, too.

331, I think the Urban Hikers provide us with a valuable service and could definately wear the "journalist" hat. So what if they scan for reports? T.V. stations and newspapers do the same. If you saw this report on television, or in a newapaper, would you make the same degrading remarks? I count on Edhat for my news, greatly appreciate Roger and the Urban Hikers.

Glad no one was hurt and I'm sorry about the loss of your memorial garden, that hurts the most. I hope you can salvage some artifacts. But on the lighter side, you certainly had an original party crasher!

The driver was possibly uninsured. First claim was denied.

I'd appreciate hearing from the Urban Hikers directly. What are your intentions and your journalistic backgrounds?
