Not sure if the accent mark will come through correctly, but according to the Old Spanish Days Web site, the official name of the event is Celebración de los Dignatarios.

You are right 574. I looked it up and the correct spelling in Spanish is actually "dignatario" with an a. You will see it spelled with an I on previous fiesta websites, though.. I will improve my investigative skills for my next report, and I apologize for calling someone a gringo! :)

It is spelled correctly. The Board of Directors of Old Spanish Days take great pains to make all things perfect and wonderful for the citizens and guests of Santa Barbara during this traditional and fun week and though a glaring error was made earlier this year, their labor into this festivity is mammoth and and marked by selfless dedication and diligent attention to details. Fiesta is a wonderful time for all the people who care to enjoy!

I actually don't drink alcohol at all. Thanks for your interest! My commentary was all in good fun. Someday in the not too distant future I will be a cougar too and will rock my ridiculous outfits with pride :)
