I agree with you, that it's dangerous to drive up that street now. ~~~~~~~~~ The wheels are "chalked" as they are supposed to be, for safety reasons, in case it rolls, but why has it been sitting there for weeks. And, it definitly poses a safety hazard, with the tire impeding traffic like that. You can call the parking enforcement officer and see if they can do something about it. 805.897.3726 http://www.santabarbaraca.gov/Government/city_Directory/police

145 - Because it's more fun to ask here and unleash the "brilliance" that resides within our scribes' collective anonymity.

2156... yep, it's way more convenient and fun to complain and be judgmental re-actively than to seek out answers pro-actively. Sadly, these are my peeps. I'm a boomer and I have this to look forward to in my old age.... lots of judgment and criticism of others but little in the way of self reflection. I guess I'm already there with the opinionatedness and critical eye on stupid stuff people do.

If you look, you will notice it is a city vehicle. We all know that city employees, cops included, believe they are exempt from all laws because they have an exempt plate on the vehicle.

145, my mom loves driving around with her old school chum, laughing and poking fun at all the people. No harm , no fowl. There is much time for self reflection; sadness, loneliness and regret. You can learn alot from your parents mistakes.

It's really encouraging how one little phone call can make a difference. You will feel so good about yourself next time you drive by and that truck is gone and it's all because you took the initiative to make that little call.

The wheels are not "chalked", they are "chocked". Chalk is a semi-hard mineral substance sometimes used to decorate or write on slate surfaces. A chock is a (usually) triangular piece of material used to stop wheels from moving.

A post to Edhat, and the public in general, brings responses that no single phone call could, from the city or from most businesses. Keep asking questions, everyone.

Except for the chalked tires that are marked with chalk to indicate how long since that vehicle last moved.

Baby boomers need to go back and read Rollo May's "Love and Will" written on the Dawn of the Age of Aquarius. He foretold it would be in fact the Age of Addiction and there was nothing enlightened about the cheap choices this generation made. They traded lust for love, and that was just the start of their string of false gods. Yes, we are now harvesting the excesses and detours of this ersatz Age of Aquarius. Heaven protect us all. And this is spoken by an atheist. Nothing religious about these observations; just shuddering at what human nature can do on its own.

#145, you hit the nail on the head. Being observational is not being judgmental. But being judgmental about being judgmental is judgmental.

472: Except the sentence read: "The wheels are "chalked" as they are supposed to be, for safety reasons, in case it rolls, but why has it been sitting there for weeks." The proper word here is "chocked" not "chalked".
